‘WWE Monday Night Raw’ Results: Seth Rollins Defeats Chris Jericho — ‘Hell In A Cell’ Won’t Be A Triple Threat Match
Paul Heyman returned to Monday Night Raw as the advocate for Brock Lesnar. In response to Goldberg’s recent interview on ESPN, Heyman issued an open challenge from his client. Lesnar is ready to fight Goldberg anywhere, any time. While unlikely to happen as soon as Hell in a Cell, the match could be booked for any major event in the future, including Survivor Series, Royal Rumble, or even WrestleMania 33.
Two competitors that the WWE Universe know will be competing at Hell in a Cell 2016 include Charlotte and Raw Women’s Champion Sasha Banks. Just as they made history by headlining Monday Night Raw last week, they hope to make history again by being the first women to compete inside Hell in a Cell. They opened this week’s Raw by both women voicing their wish to do so. Later, Mick Foley and Stephanie McMahon confirmed that the rematch would be a Hell in the Call Match, and so would the WWE Universal Championship Match.
Another match that the WWE Universe knows will be held within the confines of the massive steel structure at Hell in a Cell is Roman Reigns vs. Rusev for the WWE United States Championship. After things didn’t go their way during the opening segment, how will Rusev and his wife, the “Ravishing Russian” Lana, prepare for the Bulgarian Brute’s first Hell in a Cell Match?
WWE Monday Night Raw results
The following includes the results of all the matches and segments from WWE Raw on October 10, which airs live from the Oracle Arena in Oakland. Raw has won the “ratings war” ever since the separate rosters were established, although SmackDown Live continues to keep the competition close. Will the build-up to WWE Hell in a Cell 2016 and Paul Heyman’s big announcement be enough to keep the ratings victory streak alive for Raw?
Raw Pre-Show on the WWE Network
Scott Stanford hosted the Raw Pre-Show, and was joined by Booker T and Jerry “The King” Lawler. The pre-show can be viewed on this page through the YouTube link below. At the very beginning of the broadcast, Stanford announced that Seth Rollins vs. Chris Jericho was booked for this week’s WWE Monday Night Raw. Rather than joining the panel in the studio for the pre-show, Lita was assigned backstage Raw duty in Oakland.
The WWE Hall of Fame former Women’s Champion interviewed Bayley about her first appearance on the main roster in the Bay area, where she was raised. Later, Sin Cara was interviewed by Charly Caruso, as it was announced he was joining the Monday Night Raw roster to compete in the Cruiserweight Division. He was welcomed by Lince Dorado, who he will team up with on Raw against Drew Gulak and Tony Nese in tag team action.

There was also a segment in which Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel agreed to team up and ask Mick Foley to book them in a tag match for tonight’s Monday Night Raw. As has become a weekly custom, Cathy Kelly gave an update on what is trending among the WWE Universe on social media. Before the show ended, Lita assured the panel that Paul Heyman was being very tight-lipped about his upcoming announcement.
Sasha Banks challenged Charlotte to a Hell in a Cell Match
In the opening segment of Monday Night Raw, Sasha Banks called out Charlotte to make their match at Hell in a Cell 2016 an actual Hell in a Cell Match. After being interrupted by Rusev and Lana, Charlotte came out and accepted. The two will make history once again as the first women to compete inside the massive steel structure. In this segment, Banks and Charlotte were briefly united, as Rusev insulted the entire Women’s Division. Roman Reigns made his way to the ring, and it was announced soon after that a mixed tag team match was booked for later in the show.

Kofi Kingston defeated Cesaro
The first match on this week’s WWE Raw saw Kofi Kingston of The New Day take on Cesaro in singles competition. The Raw Tag Team Champions are in the midst of a record-breaking title reign, and Cesaro is a No. 1 contender for their straps, along with Sheamus. Rather than watching the match, Sheamus sat at ringside and started a Facebook Live video. The video ended abruptly when he started getting physical with Big E and Xavier Woods. Their scuffle distracted Cesaro just long enough for Kingston to get a small package and the victory. The New Day vs. Cesaro and Sheamus for the Raw Tag Team Championship will take place at WWE Hell in a Cell 2016.
Bayley defeated Cami Fields
In what was touted as Bayley’s “homecoming” to the Bay area, the WWE’s most proficient hugger got a quick victory a local enhancement talent. As she made her way to the back, however, she was attacked from behind by Dana Brooke.

Sin Cara and Lince Dorado defeated Tony Nese and Drew Gulak
Highlighting the Monday Night Raw Cruiserweight Division, Sin Cara and Lince Dorado (who previously teamed up eight year ago, according to the commentators) got the win after Dorado landed a top-rope moonsault on Gulak and got the pinfall.

Mick Foley confirmed a total of three Hell in a Cell Matches for the next PPV
In a response to the request made by Charlotte and Sasha Banks at the beginning of the show, Mick Foley — in a new custom plaid suit — came to the ring with Stephanie McMahon to make a few announcements for WWE Hell in a Cell 2016. He confirmed that Sasha Banks vs. Charlotte would, indeed, be a Hell in a Cell Match. Along with Roman Reigns vs. Rusev, the WWE Universal Championship Match would also be contested inside Hell in a Cell. After Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho came to the ring to complain, the Raw leadership informed them that if Jericho can defeat Seth Rollins in their match later on the show, the title match at Hell in a Cell will be a Triple Threat Match: Kevin Owens vs. Chris Jericho vs. Seth Rollins.

Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson laid out Enzo and Big Cass
As Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady were going through their usual in-ring pre-match routine before their scheduled match with the reunited Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel, they were abruptly interrupted by Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows. Enzo ended up being the victim of the Boot of Doom, just before Big Cass was hit with the Magic Killer. When Monday Night Raw returned from commercial break, Axel and Dallas were still waiting for a match.

Sami Zayn and Neville defeated Curtis Axel and Bo Dallas
While the Tag Team Division on Monday Night Raw is already pretty stacked, the addition of Zayn and Neville — two guys who really aren’t doing anything in singles competition — certainly couldn’t hurt. They proved they have good chemistry in this match, as Axel was hit with both the Helluva Kick and Red Arrow before being pinned. Disappointed in his teammate’s performance, Bo Dallas left the ring on his own after the match.

Braun Strowman defeated the Splash Brothers
As an obvious shout-out to Golden State Warriors fans, the pair of local enhancement talent tasked with a Braun Strowman handicap match announced themselves as the Splash Brothers before the match began. Of course, it didn’t last long. Afterwards, Strowman was critical of the weak competition, and told Foley that his opponent for next week had better be of a higher caliber.

Sasha Banks and Roman Reigns defeated Charlotte and Rusev
The championship duo or Reigns and Banks proved to be too much for Rusev and Charlotte in the Mixed Tag Team Match. As Sasha had her No. 1 contender locked in the Bank Statement, Roman made sure that Rusev couldn’t interrupt by hitting him with his patented Spear. Charlotte tapped out to Sasha for the second week in a row on Monday Night Raw. At Hell in a Cell, both titles will be on the line inside the demonic structure.

Paul Heyman called out Bill Goldberg on behalf of Brock Lesnar
After plugging the release of WWE 2K17, Heyman responded to the interview that Goldberg gave with Jonathan Coachman on ESPN, saying that he’d like to face Brock Lesnar once again if he returned to the WWE for one more match. Speaking for his client Brock Lesnar, Heyman publicly announced to the WCW icon that Lesnar is ready for a fight any place at any time. While it seems like the WWE Universe will almost certainly get to see Brock Lesnar vs. Goldberg, one big question remains: when will it happen?

TJ Perkins defeated Ariya Daivari
With Brian Kendrick providing guest commentary, the WWE Cruiserweight Champion have a relatively competitive match against Ariya Daivari. He ended things with his Kneebar, the same move he used to defeat Kendrick in their last title match. The rematch is set for WWE Hell in a Cell 2016.

Seth Rollins defeated Chris Jericho
Making sure that the WWE Universal Championship match at Hell in a Cell would remain a one-on-one contest, Seth Rollins defeated Kevin Owens’ best friend Chris Jericho in the main event of this week’s Monday Night Raw. After the match, Kevin Owens once again left Jericho in the ring as Rollins delivered an extra Pedigree for good measure. Seth Rollins vs. Kevin Owens is set for the WWE Universal Championship in a Hell in a Cell Match in three weeks.
