File this one under the category of “you can’t make this stuff up.” Melania Trump wore a hot pink blouse called a “pussy bow” blouse to the Donald Trump/Hillary Clinton presidential debate. Yes, Melania Trump’s Gucci blouse is truly called a “pussy bow,” and it seems that if someone has a sense of humor in choosing Mrs. Trump’s clothes, it isn’t Melania Trump because the irony seemed lost on her.

Donald Trump seems to be having a truly difficult time with the women in his life, and it is hurting his polling with women, especially the prized “suburban mom” demographic that both candidates for president are trying to attract. Last week, according to the Inquisitr, Trump dodged a bullet when a New York judge refused to unseal the divorce records between Donald and Ivana Trump that some say indicates that Ivana Trump accused her former husband of rape during their marriage. Ivana Trump was Donald Trump’s first wife, and the mother of Donald Jr., Eric, and Ivanka Trump.

Melania Trump, decked out in hot pink, walked elegantly into the presidential debate wearing what Gucci is calling a “pussy bow” blouse. The style of blouse (named long before the off-color conversation between her husband, Donald Trump and the Today Show’s Billy Bush) is named for a colorful bow that would be tied around the neck of a cute cat or kitten, says Vanity Fair. The blouse sells for just over $1,000.

People took to Twitter to ponder whether Melania Trump was making a statement about her husband Donald’s trashy bus conversation degrading women with her blouse choice. Donald Trump was caught on a hot mic describing to Billy Bush how he pursues women.

“When you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything. Grab them by the p****.”

But alas, a Trump campaign spokeswoman told CBS that her clothing choice was unintentional.

The Hollywood Reporter shared the statement that Melania Trump made after the Donald Trump tape using vulgar language on the bus went public on Friday.

“The words my husband used are unacceptable and offensive to me,” reads the statement. “This does not represent the man that I know. He has the heart and mind of a leader. I hope people will accept his apology, as I have, and focus on the important issues facing our nation and the world.”

Us Weekly says that Melania Trump’s choice of attire was simply unfortunate, and the wife of the Republican presidential nominee chose to wear the Gucci pussy bow blouse on its aesthetic merit and not for its name. But that didn’t stop people from going on Twitter to post about the irony of Melania Trump’s fashion choice on the heels of Donald Trump’s misogynistic conversation about Access Hollywood’s Nancy O’Dell and his interest in allegedly grabbing her genitals and kissing her against her will.

“Melania is going to vote for HRC the #PussyBow and matching pants (suit) confirm that she is a double agent.”

And plays on words were especially popular.

“Love Melania’s pussy-bow blouse, wonder if her husband grabbed it from the closet for her?”

Although the wordplay about Melania Trump’s hot pink blouse was all in fun, many are saying that the off-color conversation on the Access Hollywood bus was the straw that broke the proverbial camel’s back. Billy Bush, the other voice in the vulgar conversation, has also seen a reversal of fortune, as he has been suspended from his new job on the Today show until further notice.
