Jon Voight Rips Robert De Niro Over Anti-Trump Sentiments
Jon Voight took to his Twitter account to chastise Robert De Niro for his viral video rant against Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. Voight’s multi-tweet response was not only meant to scold De Niro, but Jon also attempted to use the social media platform to gather up support for Trump.
I am so ashamed of my fellow actor Bobby DeNiro’s rant against Donald Trump. What foul words he used against a presidential nominee. cont’d

I don’t know of too many men who haven’t expressed some sort of similar sexual terms toward women, especially in their younger years. cont’d

Donald Trump’s words were not as damaging as Robert DeNiro’s ugly rant. Trump’s words did not hurt anyone. Can you imagine. cont’d

if any Republican said words like Robert DeNiro used – against Hilary Clinton or Barack Obama? All hell would break loose. cont’d

against Trump. Let Donald Trump know we are completely behind him, and may God give him the strength to continue his calling.

Voight’s long-winded admonishment was obviously more than the 140-character Twitter could bare, but Jon’s sentiments gained steam from thousands of fellow Trump supports who retweeted Voight’s messages. Considering that Voight has only ever tweeted eleven times and this series took up seven of those, Jon must’ve been really hot under the collar. Voight only joined Twitter in July and currently has a little over 12,000 followers.
As previously reported by Inquisitr, Robert De Niro released a video yesterday that was supposed to encourage people to get out and vote, but spent the majority of the time ripping Donald Trump for his behavior.
According to CBS News, De Niro doesn’t have a Twitter account and has yet to respond to media requests regarding Jon Voight’s tweets. CBS News also reported back in March that Jon Voight was officially endorsing Donald Trump for president. If Voight is familiar with Robert De Niro, Jon should’ve been well aware that “Bobby,” as he referred to him, is a lifelong Democrat. Voight, of course, is not the only one in Hollywood supporting Donald Trump. Actors Scott Baio, Stacey Dash, and Antonio Sabato Jr have also publicly declared support for the candidate, but in a very liberal Hollywood they are in the minority.
Jon Voight starred in classic films such as Deliverance and Midnight Cowboy with more recent roles in the National Treasure movies as well as the series 24 and Ray Donovan. Voight, who is a conservative, is the father of actress Angelina Jolie, a prominent liberal. Their relationship is said to be strained, though Voight did comment recently on Jolie’s breakup with husband Brad Pitt.
De Niro and Voight appeared in one movie together, Heat, also starring Al Pacino. Both De Niro and Voight were up and comers in the 1970s and continue to receive accolades for their acting. Ironically, both De Niro and Voight received Best Actor nominations for playing the role of a boxer. Robert De Niro won the Academy Award for Raging Bull and Jon Voight was nominated for the Golden Globe for The Champ. If the two can’t make amends in the Twittersphere, perhaps this is Sylvester Stallone’s opportunity to set up the plot for the sequel to Grudge Match and De Niro and Voight can duke it out to settle their differences.
