Duggar Family Drama: Ben Seewald Supports Liberal ‘Black Lives Matter’ Movement, Jim Bob Duggar Disapproves
The Duggar family is having quite the debate amongst themselves. They are arguably one of the most conservative families on television, promoting only what they believe to be “of God” and pure. The patriarch, Jim Bob Duggar, had a hand in selecting his daughters’ husbands. He believed both were men of God, and has been very pleased up until recently. Jill Duggar married Derick Dillard and the two have been doing mission work since getting married. Jessa Duggar married Ben Seewald and the two have been working on raising a family.
Right now, tensions are running high in the Duggar family. According to the Hollywood Gossip, Jim Bob Duggar is upset that Ben Seewald is showing liberal tendencies. The Duggar children don’t usually speak out on things that aren’t pre-approved by their parents, but being as Jessa is an adult, she and Ben tend to voice their own opinions on social media and in public speaking engagements. This time, the controversy is over Seewald openly supporting the “Black Lives Matter” movement. He has shown his allegiance to this matter via social media on several occasions dating all the way back to 2014.
Being even the slightest bit liberal will get you a side-eye from the Duggar family. They are hardcore on their beliefs about abortion, abstinence, and other various issues. Ben Seewald definitely follows most of the family rules, but speaking out in support of the “Black Lives Matter” movement could come back to haunt him. Critics have been attacking him for not doing more in his efforts and family supporters are stunned to learn of his liberal side. Jessa Duggar hasn’t said whether or not she stands behind her husband or if she is with her father on this issue. She is far more free-spirited than Jill Duggar, but maybe not enough to publicly admit she leans a little bit to the left.
As social issues become more publicly addressed, the Duggar family will likely find out all of the members aren’t as conservative as they would have hoped. Politics hasn’t served the family well as Josh Duggar was pursuing office when his skeletons were thrown out of the closet. Since then, Jim Bob Duggar and the rest of the family have been quiet on the political front. The girls have done some public speaking events, but nothing that would draw too much negative attention.
There has been some speculation that TLC has urged the older Duggar children to find their voice. Ben Seewald isn’t afraid to stand up for what he believes is right, and that is that he believes the “Black Lives Matter” movement needs support. It will be interesting to see how far this goes, but Seewald seems serious in his support. It doesn’t appear that this is a publicity stunt with posts being dated back to two years ago. Some fans are calling for the Seewalds to put their money where their mouths are, but so far, the backing has come from a distance.
Jessa Duggar is currently expecting her second child and she is due in February. Right now, the Duggar family has been laying low and not giving out too much information about the upcoming birth and the upcoming wedding for Jinger Duggar and Jeremy Vuolo. Jim Bob Duggar seems to be more focused on another daughter getting married and how affectionate she is being during her courtship rather than what his son-in-law is or isn’t supporting on social media. There reportedly has been words between the two about the “Black Lives Matter” movement, but Seewald is going to do what he wants. Jim Bob’s control on the Duggar family is loosening more and more as the children become adults and marry off.
