‘Logan’: Hugh Jackman Reveals His Final Wolverine Movie Title

The final movie with Hugh Jackman playing X-Men character Wolverine will come out in 2017 and that movie now has a title. It was a mixture of a giant poster and a Hugh Jackman tweet that actually revealed the title of the Wolverine 3 movie. The movie will be called Logan and it will come out on March 5, 2017.

The title might seem boring to some people, but using Wolverine’s real name might be a big clue as to what fans can expect from the final Wolverine movie with Hugh Jackman in the title. The thought is that Logan is just short for the comic book story Old Man Logan, which takes place years in the future.

Screen Rant actually posted something about Wolverine 3 back in August when they guessed that Old Man Logan might be the basis for the Wolverine 3 movie. At the time, they surmised this guess based on an Instagram photo that Jackman posted that showed him looking like Wolverine, but old. That was a full two months before the Logan title was revealed for Wolverine 3.

At the time, that was just speculation for the next Wolverine movie. Hugh Jackman is 47 years old and his time outdoors in his home country of Australia has resulted in him battling skin cancer in the past. It is amazing that Jackman looks as good as he does, but what he looks like when fishing at home has little to do with what he looks like when shooting Wolverine 3.

With that said, calling the movie Logan might be the bigger clue now. Jackman did an interview with Entertainment Tonight and said that he has finished filming all his scenes for Wolverine 3. This was before he revealed the Logan movie poster and title. In that interview, Jackman said that Wolverine is “older” in this new movie.

“I’m not good. I’m the kind of person who tells everybody everything. Basically, it’s going to be very different. Very different in tone and hopefully different to anything we’ve done.”

Jackman also clarified that playing Wolverine as an older man will be easy because he is older now. So, for those who don’t read comics, what is Old Man Logan about and what can they expect from Wolverine 3?

First of all, there are some things in Old Man Logan that can’t be used in Wolverine 3. For one thing, a main character in Old Man Logan is The Incredible Hulk, who is owned by Marvel and Universal jointly. So, that won’t happen in the movie version of Logan.

Basically, in Old Man Logan, the future of the world sees the super-villains unite to finally defeat the superheroes. From the ashes, the world governments collapse and four villains take control of most of the United States – Red Skull, Dr. Doom, Abomination, and Magneto. Hulk and Kingpin took over two of the areas from Abomination and Magneto and the world was in a bad place.

It was even worse for Wolverine. Mysterio (a Spider-Man villain) used illusions to make Wolverine think he was fighting villains but instead he was tricked into killing all the X-Men. That broke Wolverine and he quit, swearing to never unsheathe his claws again.

The Old Man Logan story takes place in this future. Now, that is not to say that Logan will take this all on. For one thing, Hulk, Hawkeye, Red Skull, and more are part of this story and can’t be used. However, that doesn’t mean that the filmmakers can’t change things up when it comes to characters and keep the spirit the same for Wolverine 3.
