Watch NL Wild Card 2016 Live Stream: Giants Vs. Mets Start Time, Game Odds, And Preview
The 2016 MLB Playoffs will be in full swing as the NL Wild Card 2016 live stream and televised coverage takes place on Wednesday evening. The game will feature the Giants vs. Mets in a compelling pitchers duel. The two teams, both of whom finished at 87-75 for the season, will battle at New York’s Citi Field, with two aces taking the mound for their respective squads. The winning side gets to continue on with their postseason hopes of a World Series title, while the losing side will go back to the drawing board.
As Sporting News recently reported, the starting pitchers for this matchup will be Madison Bumgarner for the San Fransisco Giants and Noah Syndergaard for the New York Mets. Bumgarner has shown his skills at Citi Field several times during previous meetings with the Mets and owns a 4-0 record with a 0.62 ERA over 29 innings pitched. On the other side, the Mets’ Syndergaard had a slightly higher ERA than Bumgarner for the past season.
The two pitchers ranked in the top five for ERA out of all MLB pitchers this past season. Bumgarner was fourth with a 2.74 ERA for the Giants, while Syndergaard was third with a 2.60 ERA. The Giants left-hander threw 251 strikeouts, had a WHIP of 1.02, and finished with a record of 15-9. The Mets’ rising ace right-hander was 14-9 with 218 strikeouts and a 1.15 WHIP stat.
Both pitchers have their share of relevant postseason experience. Syndergaard was instrumental in last year’s run by New York, picking up the win in the deciding game of the NLDS, as well as wins in the NLCS and World Series. Bumgarner helped power a postseason run by his team in 2014 thanks to his 8-0 shutout win against the Pittsburgh Pirates in the NL Wild Card game then.
Of the two teams, the Giants have won three titles over the past six years. The most recent came in 2014 with Bumgarner part of the success. The New York Mets were part of last year’s World Series but ultimately fell 4-1 to the Kansas City Royals. Now the two will clash with a chance at continuing towards another possible championship on the line.

When it comes to their chances at winning the 2016 World Series, neither of these wild card squads are anywhere near the top favorites. On Monday, CBS Sports reported on the latest Vegas future odds to win the title, with the Giants and Mets ranked as the two bottom teams in terms of percent chance they’ll win it all. New York was listed with odds of 20 to one and a 4.8 percent chance to win. Meanwhile, San Francisco had odds of 25 to one and a 3.8 percent chance to win the World Series which was tied with the Baltimore Orioles.
For tonight’s matchup, the Giants are the favorites to win, and rightfully so, as they’ve become hot at the right time. San Francisco won their last four games of the season to get here. They currently have a moneyline price of -115 or -120, depending on the sports book, while the Mets have a price of +105 or +110 at various books. The over/under runs total has been listed at six runs in what could be a tight pitchers duel between two aces at Citi Field.
Tonight’s MLB game has an 8 p.m. Eastern Time start time. Viewers will be able to watch the televised NL Wild Card coverage via ESPN on cable and satellite. The winning team in tonight’s NL Wild Card game will take on the Chicago Cubs who are currently awaiting their first round opponents for this postseason. The Cubs are considered favorites amongst all MLB teams in contention for the 2016 World Series.
