‘Arrow’ Season 5 Spoilers: Guess Who’s Back! One Character Set To Return Alive And Well
Laurel Lance’s death in Season 4 of Arrow was one of the show’s most controversial decisions to date.
Not only were fans outraged after Laurel’s (Katie Cassidy) shocking departure, but the Black Canary plays an important role throughout Oliver Queen’s (Steven Amell) life. Not to mention Laurel is Oliver’s true love.
Thankfully, producers have reversed their decision to kill off the character and Laurel will be back in action for Season 5.

According to Movie Pilot, executive producer Wendy Mericle broke the exciting news just prior to the Season 5 premiere.
“I can tell you that we’re really excited about having her back. You will see in the episodes where she appears – Episode 510 definitely, our midseason premiere. Keep your eyes out for that,” Mericle shared. “We’re so excited about getting to work with her again and her willingness to come back. It’s one of the fun parts of the show.”
Executive producer Marc Guggenheim was very adamant that Earth-1’s version of Laurel was dead for good.
While nothing official has been confirmed, Mericle hinted that they found another way to bring Laurel back from the dead.
Will the new Laurel be from another version of Earth? Or will Flashpoint be the cause of her return?
“People can leave and get killed and you can still find new and crazy ways for them to come back,” Mericle explained. “I can definitely tell you that there’s a way we’re going to bring her back and she’s going to be alive and well. And Flashpoint might have a little bit to do with that.”
The Flashpoint storyline centers on The Flash’s Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and his decision to travel back in time to stop his mom’s death.

Barry’s decision will have significant impacts on all of the DC Universe, including Arrow.
In the comics, Flashpoint changes timelines and messes with fate, which is definitely something to look out for on both Arrow and The Flash.
At the same time, it is possible that Cassidy will return as Black Siren, her Earth-2 alter-ego.
Black Siren has made several appearances on The Flash and she is still very much alive, making this the easiest way to bring Cassidy back to Arrow.
Of course, the show has used the Lazarus Pit to resurrect two characters in Sara and Thea, so there are clearly a lot of options for bringing Laurel back to life.
Whatever the reason behind Laurel’s return, the decision to bring Cassidy back is definitely sitting well with fans.

Shortly after Damien Darhk killed Laurel last season, fans started several online petitions to bring the character back.
They even voted Black Canary as DC’s top hero on television.
Clearly, fans were disappointed by Laurel’s death and it’s a good thing that producers decided to resurrect her.
According to iDigital Times, Cassidy has signed on for a spot on all four of DC’s television series, including Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and Supergirl, which means her return isn’t going to be short lived.

Speaking of returning characters, Cosmic Book News is reporting that Amell recently teased the return of several exciting characters next season.
The actor shared a few photos from the set of Season 5, revealing that fans will see Deathstroke back in action at some point next season.
Amell also posted a few snaps with White Canary (Caity Lotz) and Diggle (David Ramsey).
The Arrow star teased a few mystery characters, though he kept their identities largely hidden.
Apart from Black Canary, will fans see Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller) make a surprise return next season?
