Taylor Swift Feud: Demi Lovato Slams Country Star For Being A Mean Girl
It looks like Taylor Swift’s feud with Demi Lovato is still alive and well. As we know, Taylor Swift and Demi Lovato have a long history that consists of Lovato throwing some major shade at Swift. The former best friends were tight for years back when Swift’s squad only consisted of Demi, Selena Gomez, and Miley Cyrus.
While the two were friends for years, something went south between Demi and Taylor in 2010. In the now-viral video, a fan had asked Demi Lovato about Selena Gomez during a signing outside, and Lovato replied, “Ask Taylor,” which led some to believe that Demi had a falling out with both Taylor and Selena. That said, it was only the beginning of this feud between the two stars.
Taylor Swift’s feud with Demi Lovato took some time to intensify, and most think that’s because Taylor was one of the only ones to reach out to Demi when she entered rehab in 2010. It seemed quiet on the Taylor and Demi front all the way up until 2013, when Lovato threw shade at Taylor at “using boyfriends” to sell records. As we know, Swift is infamous for penning lyrics about her breakups and boyfriends.
During a radio interview, Lovato explained, “A lot of celebrities don’t open up to their fans, they just tell them what they want to hear. They don’t really tell them things that can benefit their lives, they just, you know, maybe flaunt around a boyfriend and sell a couple of albums. That’s not what my career is about.”

While Lovato never confirmed the quote was about Taylor, this was during an era when Swift was known for spitting out boyfriends and writing hit songs about them, so many fans were convinced it was shade. Then, she followed it up with a 2013 interview with Company claiming that she didn’t “care about Taylor Swift’s love life.”
The latest shade that hints Demi’s Taylor Swift feud is still going strong is a recent Glamour interview. In the interview, Lovato spoke about the problematic subject of people using feminism as a prop, which she had accused Taylor of doing in a series of tweets at one point. This time, Lovato didn’t mince her words while discussing Swift using feminism.
Glamour’s journalist asked Lovato, “You’ve said before, in regard to Taylor Swift, ‘Don’t brand yourself a feminist if you don’t do the work.’ How do you see yourself doing the work?”
Lovato said, “I think in certain situations, certain people could be doing more if they’re going to claim that as part of their brand. To be honest, and this will probably get me in trouble, I don’t see anybody in any sort of squad that has a normal body. It’s kind of this false image of what people should look like. And what they should be like, and it’s not real.”

While Demi didn’t talk about what ignited the Taylor Swift feud, she did point to the country singer’s behavior toward pop star Katy Perry as being an issue.
“I think that having a song and a video about tearing Katy Perry down, that’s not women’s empowerment. We all do things that aren’t, but I have to ask myself, Am I content with calling myself a feminist? Yes, because I speak out.”
The song and music video Demi Lovato is referring to is Swift’s song “Bad Blood,” which saw her infamous girl squad armor up to take down the “evil girl” who her bestie Selena Gomez plays in the video. While Katy Perry isn’t mentioned in the video, Swift’s lyrics aren’t the most subtle, and many pointed out that there are some visuals in the music video that more than hint that the falling out is about Katy Perry.
