Vice Presidential Debate Questions For Kaine And Pence Could Include Trump Taxes, Clinton Health Problems, Alicia Machado And That Porn Video
The job of any vice president is to stand by his or her president, and the upcoming vice presidential debate is no exception to this. While there might be many other interesting topics that Tim Kaine and Mike Pence could discuss during their upcoming battle for the vice presidency, the simple fact is that both of them are going to be caught up in the controversies surrounding Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.

Issues like the economy and global peace will just have to take a back burner in the vice presidential debate to the trending questions of the day. Certainly, that’s what happened in the debate between Trump and Clinton. The focus last Monday was mainly on personalities, and it got nasty.
One of the first questions that potential vice president Mike Pence will probably have to answer has to do with just what’s going on with Donald Trump’s taxes. As noted by CNN, it’s been clear for some time – thanks to Trump’s refusal to release copies of his taxes – that this question was a particularly touchy one for the Republican presidential nominee.

Certainly, Hillary Clinton wasted no time in the first presidential debate bringing this issue to the fore. But as reported by the AP, the release of documents purporting to show that Donald Trump may not have paid taxes at all over the last 18 years will no doubt make this a burning topic of discussion in the vice presidential debate. Obviously, Tim Kaine isn’t going to hesitate to bring it up. Whether Mike Pence will be happy to discuss it is another matter.
Another question likely to pop up during the vice presidential debate relates to the possibility of serious Hillary Clinton health problems. While Donald Trump in the first presidential debate attempted to insinuate that Clinton was fragile and didn’t have the “stamina” for the job of president, her response – scripted as it was – was still devastating for Trump.
This particular topic is one that could go either way for Pence and Kaine. While Kaine could play up Clinton’s previous response to Trump’s question, it would be easy for Pence to take advantage of the video evidence showing Clinton’s weakness and potential health problems. But given the slap down that Trump got last time with the same question, Pence might try to dodge it entirely if the moderator will let him.
But if these topics might seem like a minefield designed to block Mike Pence’s hopes to be vice president, they’re nothing compared to the more lurid questions that could be offered up to Pence by the moderator of this one and only vice presidential debate. As amazing as it would seem in any other election, Donald Trump has managed to involve himself – in one week – in two separate issues regarding porn videos.

It’s difficult to say precisely how Mike Pence could respond to a debate question regarding the softcore porn video that Donald Trump – as reported by NBC News – had a cameo in 1999. While Pence will probably try to laugh it off and dismiss it, it’s unlikely Tim Kaine will let this approach get a free pass.
Particularly given the fact that only days before this revelation Donald Trump had attempted to smear former Miss Universe Alicia Machado by insinuating in one of his patented backfiring Donald Trump tweets that she had participated in an adult film. While this was discredited, the fact that Trump really was in a porn video seemed karma-like in its symmetry.

You might expect that Pence – as a trained lawyer – would be able to bring a more organized and rational presentation to his effort to be vice president than Donald Trump managed for himself in the presidential debate. But since Tim Kaine is also a lawyer, this isn’t going to provide Pence with any real debate advantage. On the other hand, the fact that both Pence and Kaine will be forced to delve into these juicy topics on the stage could make this the most entertaining vice presidential debate in modern history.
