Saturday Night Live has cast Alec Baldwin to play Donald Trump for the entire season. The season premiere will air on October 1 and feature another parody showdown between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.
Alec Baldwin is set to play Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton will be played by familiar face, Kate McKinnon.
Baldwin will be making a seasonal guest appearance as Trump. The new promo for SNL that NBC released on Wednesday suggests the first head-to-head showdown will be a parody of the nominees’ recent presidential debate.
In the promo video, Alec Baldwin can be seen dressing the part, wearing a suit jacket with a pair of bushy white eyebrows.
Saturday Night Live cast member Kate McKinnon is also seen in the promo. Her Hillary Clinton impersonation has been put to good use during this election cycle.

At the end of the promo, Baldwin does his best Trump face, pursing his month in a fluffy blonde wig.
Alec Baldwin has been a part of the Saturday Night Live show for decades. His first appearance dates back to 1990, and he has since hosted a record-breaking 16 times.
Baldwin is known for his hilarious celebrity impressions, especially as Governor Rick Perry, who was also a Republican presidential hopeful.

Executive producer of the show Lorne Michaels made the decision to cast the SNL guest host as the part of Donald Trump over the summer.
Baldwin is set to play Donald Trump for the entire season this year, giving him a recurring role, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Lorne Michaels is close friends with Alec Baldwin. Baldwin also starred in the Michaels-produced NBC sitcom 30 Rock.

Baldwin officially signed with the television series earlier this week and taped a promo which debut on social media Wednesday.

Baldwin has commented on his feelings about Trump in the past, specifically a May 2016 interview with Ellen DeGeneres.
“We don’t really want a president who looks like he’s been dipped in movie popcorn butter.”
He also spoke his mind in regards to Trump to The Telegraph in June.

In exactly one month, citizens will go out and cast their vote in the general election. Baldwin will then find out if he will carry on the rest of the SNL season playing a president or the loser of the 2016 election.
The arrangement will be similar to the casting of Larry David last season to play Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders.
Donald Trump was previously parodied by SNL cast member Darrell Hammond. Hammond will remain with the series as its announcer and continue to appear on the show periodically.
SNL made headlines last year when Donald Trump hosted the show in November 2015. The show gained a lot of controversy and protests due to Trump’s comments about undocumented immigration from Mexico.
The October 1 premiere of Saturday Night Live Season 42 will be hosted by Suicide Squad’s Margot Robbie, with musical performances by The Weeknd.

The following week, on Oct. 8, Hamilton creator and star Lin-Manuel Miranda will appear as the host, with Twenty One Pilots appearing as the musical guest. Girl On The Train star Emily Blunt is also set to host Saturday Night Live this season.
