Family From Hell: Mother Beats 2-Year-Old Son To Death, Grandmother Hides It From Police, Father Killed 1-Year-Old Brother Year Before
The mother of Katrina Shangreaux, a woman accused of beating her 2-year-old son to death over “potty training issues,” is also facing charges over the boy’s death, the NY Daily News is reporting. The South Dakota boy, Kylen, was killed while potty training at his mother’s home on a Pine Ridge Indian Reservation July 28.
Federal authorities revealed that 28-year-old Katrina had kicked the little boy in the tummy with her feet and beaten him up with closed fists until he suffered internal bleeding and died. Doctors who examined his body said he was covered with bruises, bite marks, and had a torn scrotum as well a skull fracture.

“The boy had multiple bruises on his body, some appeared older and some new. He also had multiple bite marks on his body and what appeared to be marks from a belt. The boy’s scrotum was torn and there was hair wrapped around his genitals.”
Shangreaux was charged with first-degree murder and is looking at life in prison.
Her mother, Sonya Dubray was arrested Monday after investigators found out that she had cleaned the house after the toddler was killed and tried to mislead special agents about the real reason why Kylen was killed. The prosecution had said potty training was the trigger behind the murder, but Dubray had tried to deflect the suspicions of the investigating officers to other things.
“Potty training was the catalyst for the child abuse and Dubray knew the statement and representation was false.”

Investigators also revealed that Dubray had washed Kylen’s bloodied clothes and destroyed evidence that a murder had taken place by using a powerful cleanser by the time the house was inspected by agents. Dubray was booked into the same correctional facility that has held her daughter since July 29.
The 47-year-old woman faces charges of accessory to first-degree murder, making a false statement, tampering with evidence and misprision of a felony. Her daughter has been charged with two felony child-abuse counts, assault resulting in serious bodily injury of a minor and first-degree murder. Dubray could spend over 43 years in prison if convicted.
Kylen was buried last Wednesday in Pine Ridge.
His father was granted permission to attend his burial after being released temporarily from a county jail for 12 hours by US Magistrate Judge Daneta Wollmann. James Shangreaux Sr. is being accused of abusing and killing Kylen’s 1-year-old half brother in April, 2015.
He has pleaded not guilty to charges of murder and child abuse. He faces a jury trial in January and could get life if convicted. The child’s mother, Emmy Rouillard and her partner, Robert Red Shirt, were both convicted earlier this year of felony child abuse and neglect involving the 1-year-old boy.
Emmy was sentenced to 2 ½ years in prison, Red Shirt received a 4-year-term. Emmy Rouillard was entangled in a fight with Robert Red Shirt and had used the 1-year-old boy as a human shield. The boy later died three weeks later from brain injuries, inflicted by his father James Shangreaux Sr.

Kylen’s loved ones and family members hailed the charges brought against Shangreaux and Dubray in a Facebook post, Tuesday. The page entitled Justice for Kylen said karma awaited all those responsible for the little boy’s death and other defenseless children.
“Justice is coming down. ALL of the people responsible for contributing to this sweet soul’s demise will be held accountable … as painful as it is, do not turn your back on evil because it must be brought to light for change to happen.”

An online petition has been launched, urging South Dakota lawmakers to come down hard and prevent deaths like Kylen’s from happening in future. As of Tuesday, the petition for “Kylen’s law” had received over 1,600 signatures.
Remember to say a prayer for Kylen Shangreaux and his brother.
