WWE News: Why Didn’t Triple H Appear At WWE Clash Of Champions? Reason Why WWE Is Keeping HHH Off WWE Television Revealed
Ever since losing the WWE Championship to Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania 32, Triple H was a ghost on WWE programming for months. He returned for only a few minutes during the Fatal Four Way match to crown a new WWE Universal Champion and changed everything. HHH betrayed Seth Rollins and ensured that Kevin Owens became the top guy on Raw. After setting forth a course of events, he disappeared again.
The rumor was that HHH would return to WWE again during last night’s WWE Clash of Champions PPV and get involved in the WWE Universal Championship match between Owens and Rollins. However, it was Chris Jericho who interfered that ultimately led to Owens retaining the WWE Universal title. Despite all the speculation, Triple H was a no show, and the WWE Universe wants to know why.
The mystery surrounding Triple H’s actions is what the WWE fans really want to know. The Game still has not explained his betrayal of Seth Rollins or why he ensured that the WWE Universal Championship found its way into the arms of Kevin Owens. On WWE programming, his motivation has yet to be revealed, but WWE officials have specific reasons why they’re delaying HHH’s return to WWE that have been revealed.
It’s no secret that Raw’s rating have been dropping consistently since the brand extension. In fact, there was a report that claimed Kevin Owens would be losing the WWE Universal title at WWE Clash of Champions as a result, but that obviously didn’t happen. That’s also not going to happen because WWE officials are more than willing to wait out the recent trend of poor attendance numbers and television ratings.
In fact, Triple H is not appearing on WWE television for that exact reason. According to a recent report on the status of The Game, WWE officials are keeping him off weekly WWE television, and he didn’t return last night during the PPV because the return of Monday Night Football is causing a huge dip in Raw’s weekly viewership, so WWE officials don’t want to bring HHH back until Raw’s ratings start to pick back up soon.
That’s a big part of their plan, but Triple H on Raw every week also complicates WWE programming a great deal, which makes it easier to just not have him on television every week. Aside from the power struggle that would ensue between HHH, Mick Foley, and Stephanie McMahon, keeping Triple H off Raw doesn’t force the feud between him and Seth Rollins to happen faster than WWE officials would like.
WWE officials are also right in thinking that having HHH back on WWE programming would be a mistake because it would force them to book Rollins vs. Triple H for WWE Hell in a Cell or WWE Survivor Series. It would be difficult to postpone their feud and match all the way to Wrestlemania 33 next year with Triple H on Raw every week, so it is much easier to just keep HHH off WWE programming for the time being.
The challenge will be to keep the momentum that Rollins vs. Triple H has built over the past few weeks going for roughly six months, but their dynamic has been building for over two years. A few more months may not be that difficult. HHH’s character is also very exciting right now because he could appear at any time and get involved in storylines, so WWE will likely use that in the coming months.
The long-term objective is HHH vs. Seth Rollins, which is designed to help turn the latter into one of the biggest babyfaces WWE has ever had. If WWE officials are able to manage the momentum of a long-term program as they have in the past, The Architect vs. The Game could be something special for next year’s Wrestlemania. The next step is to figure out what the plan is for Rollins heading into WWE Hell in a Cell.
