“He lied about me. He said that I was very cold to him when he told me that he was going to make [‘Halloween’]. Nothing could be further from the truth. I said, ‘Make it your own movie, man. This is yours now. Don’t worry about me.’ I was incredibly supportive. Why that piece of s**t lied, I don’t know. He had no reason to. Why did he do it?
“So, frankly, that will color my response to the film. I thought that he took away the mystique of the story by explaining too much about [Michael Myers]. I don’t care about that. He’s supposed to be a force of nature. He’s supposed to be almost supernatural. And he was too big. It wasn’t normal.”

Rob Zombie’s version of Halloween was vastly different than John Carpenter’s version. Zombie humanized Michael Myers by meticulously showing how Myers was psychologically broken down by his home environment instead of being a supernatural force of evil that Carpenter created.

Carpenter’s Halloween has a rating of 7.9 on IMDB and was selected for preservation by the National Film Registry in 2006, one year before Rob Zombie’s remake was released. According to IMDB, Zombie’s Halloween has a rating of 6.1.

Variety is reporting that John Carpenter will be back as executive producer to the new Halloween movie. Carpenter stated that “38 years after the original Halloween, I’m going to help to try to make the 10th sequel the scariest of them all.” Both Miramax and Blumehouse will share the financing of the 10th sequel while Malek Akkad will be on as producer. Jason Blum from Blumehouse commented on the return of John Carpenter to the Halloween franchise.
“‘Halloween’ is one of those milestone films that inspired everyone at our company to get into the world of scary movies. The great Malek Akkad and John Carpenter have a special place in the hearts of all genre fans and we are so excited that Miramax brought us together. We cannot wait to find and collaborate with the right filmmaker to give Halloween fans the movie they deserve.”
The Halloween franchise tells the story of Michael Myers who as a child murdered his sister. He was locked up in a mental institution for many years. When he escaped, on Halloween, he set out to find his other sister, Laurie Strode, in order to kill her. His doctor, Dr. Loomis, knowing how deadly he is, tries to stop him from killing Strode.
