Gigi Hadid’s Attacker Thinks He Has A Right To Grab Women In Milan, And Apparently So Did Her Bodyguards
Gigi Hadid’s attacker, Vitalii Sediuk, thinks that Gigi and other women enraged by the attack are being “overly dramatic.” Many women are still feeling angry about Gigi being grabbed from behind in a Milan street. What he did was an insult and a threat, not only to Miss Hadid but to women everywhere who have a right to walk freely without fear of being accosted. The fact that he is getting away with this is an insult to all women.
Gigi was lifted off her feet by the man famous for molesting celebrities, his only real claim to fame is assaulting people he obviously envies. His previous assaults have landed him in jail in the United States. Sediuk has not been arrested for his attack on Gigi in Milan, and meanwhile, he continues to get the media attention he craves.

Gigi’s boyfriend, Zayn Malik, formerly of One Direction, is very concerned for the safety of his girlfriend, an internationally-known supermodel, who travels all over the world as part of her work. Zayn wants to employ full-time bodyguards for Miss Hadid, according to Unreality TV. The guards would travel with Gigi so that she isn’t dependent on locally-hired security guards who don’t know her and have no real accountability.

Gigi Hadid’s local bodyguards, hired only for Milan Fashion Week, did not respond to her plight, leaving the supermodel to fend for herself as she struggled against Vitalii Sediuk. Gigi is a boxer, avid swimmer, and gymnast. She is in great physical condition so she was able to fight off Sediuk even though he had a definite advantage because he was behind her and is larger than her. Gigi elbowed Vitalii in the jaw and pulled free. Sediuk fled the scene.
Zayn Malik could have a point, though, considering the poor response by these hired guards, and the fact that some people, perhaps including the local authorities, are not taking this attack seriously. Is this sort of treatment what women should expect? Are men allowed to just grab any woman they fancy? If not, why is this man not in jail?
Gigi Hadid’s attacker, Vitalii Sediuk, is perpetually being referred to in media as a fan, but he is not a fan. He has spoken out with contempt for Miss Hadid. The word “fan” is very specific to people who adore a celebrity, it is short for “fanatic.” There is a huge difference between fans and attackers. That is true on the street and online as well, and people who viciously attack celebrities, either verbally or physically, are not fans and should not be described as such. Vitalii told The Hollywood Reporter his actions are a protest of undeserved fame.
“You can call it a manifest or a protest. This is also a wake-up call for Anna Wintour, who turned Vogue into a tabloid by putting Kardashians and other similar celebrities on a cover of a well respected magazine.”
Gigi Hadid’s attacker is not a fan. He is a detractor protesting her success in some sort of irrational hatred for supermodels and other celebrities. He is obviously bitter and his attacks are becoming more violent. What he is saying takes the attack to the level of a hate crime intended to intimidate and humiliate. Referring to this menace as a fan trivializes what actually happened.
Zayn Malik is furious about what happened to Gigi, and rightfully so. Although Gigi seems to be taking the event in stride, with new confidence she can handle herself in an altercation, she could be endangered by a more serious physical threat in the future. For Miss Hadid’s safety, Zayn’s suggestion could prove to be an excellent idea.
Gigi Hadid’s attacker, Vitalii Sediuk, has also been referred to as a “prankster,” but that term also trivializes his violent and unacceptable behavior. Gigi had every reason to believe her life was in danger and she acted accordingly. She had no way to know his intent was to humiliate her in public. Still, quite justly, he was the one who got humiliated.
Zayn Malik realizes that Vitalii Sediunk isn’t the only person out there who might try to harm a beautiful woman. Miss Hadid’s fame could make her a target for stalkers and her striking appearance could draw unwanted attention as well.

Gigi Hadid’s attack, which happened in a large crowd of people, does raise questions about the safety of all women, whether abroad or on the streets of their own cities. If attacks on women are not taken seriously worldwide, eventually these kinds of situations will spiral out of control. This is a high-profile case, and perhaps law enforcement should make an example of Vitalii Sediuk, sending a strong message to those who would accost total strangers on the streets.
As Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid consider the ramifications of the fact that a strong, beautiful woman might not be safe on the world’s streets, other women should consider their options as well. They wait for law enforcement to take their plights seriously in a time where rape goes unprosecuted even in the U.S. Now, this high-profile attack seems to be taken as some sort of joke. Women have a right to be protected under the law. Still, if there is no civil protection in the world for women, perhaps bodyguards are Gigi’s best option.
Should Gigi Hadid accept Zayn Malik’s offer to hire personal bodyguards to travel with her after Vitalii Sediuk’s attack?
