WWE News: HHH Could Begin Feud With Seth Rollins At ‘WWE Clash Of Champions’
At WWE Clash of Champions, Kevin Owens will defend the WWE Universal Championship against Seth Rollins in the main event of the show. The stakes are high for Owens vs. Rollins because the outcome of the match will determine the next several months of WWE programming. The wild card in their situation isn’t even in the match, but he’s the reason why Raw is where it is going into Sunday night.
After losing the WWE Championship to Roman Reigns at WrestleMania, Triple H disappeared from WWE programming entirely for several months, but his return to Raw a few weeks ago changed everything overnight. The Game ensured that Kevin Owens became the WWE Universal Champion and betrayed Seth Rollins in the process. The reason why he chose Owens over Rollins is still a total mystery to the WWE fans.
With WWE Clash of Champions less than 48 hours away, the rumor mill has been predicting that Triple H will emerge again to get involved in the main event match between Owens and Rollins. There is a lot of speculation about how that could impact Raw’s storylines and WWE programming. The bigger question that will be answered over the next few months is how WWE is going to pull off the match between Triple H and Seth Rollins that has been building for roughly two years, but is just now picking up significant steam.
Obviously, Triple H vs. Seth Rollins is happening sooner rather than later. A match with this much build is a perfect fit for WrestleMania 33, which is likely what WWE officials had originally planned. However, the WWE Clash of Champions PPV makes it tricky to hold off on the big match for another six months.
If The Game gets involved and costs Rollins the WWE Universal Championship for the second time on Sunday, WWE officials are going to have a difficult time delaying the payoff of that match until next year’s WrestleMania. As their feud grows, we could see The Architect vs. The Game as early as WWE Survivor Series in November. In fact, that is what a recent article from Bleacher Report is saying should happen.
Their overall point is that WWE must resist booking Triple H to get involved in Sunday night’s WWE Universal Championship contest. For one thing, Owens not being able to win big matches on his own is starting to hurt him. The bigger issue is that angle will force WWE to book Rollins vs. Triple H much faster than they are ready, but there is little WWE can do now. It’ll be lackluster if The Game doesn’t appear at all.
If Triple H interferes in the WWE Universal Championship match like the rumors and common sense are saying he will, it’ll be a confirmation that WWE is pulling the trigger on Seth Rollins vs. Triple H for WWE Survivor Series. It’ll be a WrestleMania-caliber match given to the WWE Universe many months early.
The WWE Universe wouldn’t complain since the feud has been building for over two years and likely would have taken place at WrestleMania 32 if Rollins hadn’t been forced to miss seven months of action due to his knee injury. The importance of the match isn’t just validating two years of WWE programming, but this feud is already establishing Seth Rollins as the top face in WWE. A match with Triple H will cement it for good.
The truth is that Seth Rollins vs. Triple H is really about getting the former over with the WWE Universe as the face of Raw, which is especially true considering Roman Reigns’ relationship with the fans and the fact that Finn Balor won’t return to WWE television until some point in 2017. Rollins vs. Triple H is about giving Seth a big boost on WWE programming, which will undoubtedly cement him as “The Man” in WWE.
