Brad Pitt Angelina Jolie Split After Private Eye Tells Of Marion Cotillard Affair, The Couple Have No Prenup
One of the world’s most famous celebrity couples, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, is calling it quits after a PI reportedly provided Jolie with evidence that Pitt was romancing another woman, Pitt’s Allied co-star, French actress Marion Cotillard. Pitt, 52 and Jolie, 41 have been married for two years, but have been together for twelve years, and are the parents of six children. This was Brad Pitt’s second marriage and Jolie’s third.
Though Pitt and Jolie both earn a great deal of money, the couple does not have a prenup like Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale, according to The Inquisitr. Aside from money, Pitt and Jolie own a lot of real estate together which will need to be divided, but that won’t likely be as difficult as the custody arrangements that will need to be decided. Angelina Jolie reportedly wants custody of all six children and says she would allow Pitt to have liberal visitation, but Pitt reportedly wants joint custody.
The news broke yesterday that after getting word that Brad Pitt was cheating with Marion Cotillard, Angelina Jolie filed from divorce says Page Six. Jolie was said to be suspicious that Pitt was running around, so she hired a private investigator.
“She hired a private eye because she felt that he was fooling around with her on the set, and it turns out, he was. And that was the final straw.”

Brad Pitt has been working on the film Allied in London with Cotillard, and the two were said to be very close. Sources suggest that Pitt has also been acting more like a single guy than a married man during filming. Pitt allegedly is in the throes of a serious midlife crisis and Angelina Jolie has had enough.
“The atmosphere [off-set] was full of hard drugs and Russian hookers, and Angie was told Brad got caught up in it.”
Though Angelina Jolie is said to be convinced that Pitt is involved with Cotillard, sources in the Cotillard camp deny any romantic link. Cotillard has been with her partner, Guillaume Canet since 2007, and though they are not married, they share one child. A rep for Jolie said that she appreciates her fans giving her privacy at this time. Pitt also added his thoughts to the statement.
“I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the well-being of our kids.”

The reason Angelina Jolie gave on her filing was irreconcilable differences, but sources close to the couple say that the biggest conflict was about parenting styles. Jolie says she will not be seeking spousal support, but claims that there is community property that will need to be divided. Jolie’s attorney, Robert Offer, made a statement that Jolie is seeking a divorce for “the health of her family,” says USA Today.
On the legal papers, Jolie states that she wants sole physical custody of all six children. Neena Tankha, a New York lawyer states that it would be unusual for this to be granted, and it is not the norm.
“They’ve been co-parenting for so many years, it’s unusual and surprising to see one parent asking for sole custody at this late stage. It suggests there was some incident or series of incidents that made Angelina think to question his parenting. It’s a very aggressive move for someone who has co-parented in the way this family has been accustomed.”

Alternet says that Brad Pitt’s use of pot and alcohol was a big factor in Angelina Jolie’s decision to file for divorce. Pitt had claimed that when he became a father, his marijuana smoking stopped, but sources say that Pitt started back up recently. Jolie is also said to be concerned with Pitt’s temper.
More details will likely continue to trickle out, but the main disagreement seems to be over custody of the six children.
