Shawn Mendes Admits He’s Kissed Fifth Harmony’s Camila Cabello: Are They Dating?

Shawn Mendes appears to confirm that he and Fifth Harmony star Camila Cabello dated after a fan recently asked the singer what it was like to kiss the girl band singer.

Shawn appeared to confirm the dating rumors that have long swirled around him and Camila in a new interview with the British radio show, Capital FM, where Mendes played seriously coy and grinned when asked about his long reported romance with Cabello and what it was like to kiss her.

Mendes’s apparent Camila kiss confession went down during a game on the British radio show on September 15, in which Shawn was challenged not to lie as he was asked to answer a number of tough questions.

After making a number of more light-hearted confessions, including revealing the last thing he Googled, Mendes was then given a tough question from a fan who asked the “Stitches” singer, “Was Camila Cabello a good kisser?”

Shawn played seriously coy following the question about what it was like to kiss the Fifth Harmony star, replying, “I don’t know… I don’t know that that means.”

Without denying that he and Cabello have kissed on at least one occasion, Mendes then joked that the fan who asked the dating question had “too strong of a British accent” before avoiding the question by claiming, “I couldn’t understand her.”

Mendes’s reluctance to dispel the rumors that he and Camila shared at least one kiss sent Mendes and Fifth Harmony’s dedicated fans into meltdown on social media, speculating that Shawn’s admission confirmed once and for all that he did in fact date Cabello despite the twosome claiming for months that they were just friends.

“I can’t understand the question her British accent was too strong” @ShawnMendes SUUUUUUREEE,” Twitter user @snapbackarla replied, while @adcdinah hit back, “SHAWN MENDES BOIIIIIII. You and Camila are a bunch of liars with the ‘just friends’ mess y’all kept trynna pull.”

“Usually Shawn is like ‘oh no Camila is just a friend,'” Mendes and Fifth Harmony fan @stickycabello continued, “BUT in that game he couldn’t lie and he goes ‘I didn’t understand the question.'”

Notably, Shawn Mendes’s Camila Camila kiss confession comes after months of speculation that he and Cabello dated, although the twosome constantly played down the dating rumors and claimed that they were just good friends.

It was earlier this year that Shawn told Capital FM in another interview that he and Cabello were nothing more than friends, asking the British radio show’s host not to ask about the dating rumors swirling around himself and the singer, who he collaborated with on the 2015 hit, “I Know What You Did Last Summer.”

Confirming that he and Camila are “not dating,” Shawn told host Dave Berry of the dating reports, “It’s fine, honestly, you can’t expect as an artist to do a collaboration with a girl and the world not think you’re dating, so it’s okay.”

Mendes then continued to shut down the Camila dating rumors once and for all just months before he made the big kiss confession, adding, “So that’s straight there. Don’t ask again.”

Shawn also slammed reports claiming he and Cabello were dating in an interview with Seventeen magazine this year when Mendes gushed over the Fifth Harmony star, but he once again confirmed that he and Camila were not dating at that time.

“I love her and she’s so talented,” Shawn told the magazine of his relationship with Cabello after shutting down the relationship reports, even describing Camila as being “phenomenal.”

“She’s one of the sweetest girls I’ve ever met and super, super-smart,” Shawn continued of Cabello. “Musically, she blows my mind.”

E! News was first to claim that Shawn and Camila were officially dating back in September 2015, alleging that the two grew close and their friendship turned romantic while on tour with Austin Mahone a year ago.

The site confirmed at the time that Mendes and Cabello were officially a couple, while a source close to Shawn told the site that the two musicians “really like each other and laugh nonstop when they’re together.”
