One Direction fans are famously loyal to band members Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson, but nothing divides fans more than claims that Styles and Tomlinson are a couple. The rumors about a relationship between Styles and Tomlinson have been around for almost as long as One Direction have been a band. The fact that Harry and Louis shared an apartment and seemed especially close is probably at the root of the rumors. Tomlinson’s famous “always in my heart” tweet to Harry Styles is the second most retweeted message of all time on Twitter, and fans argue that this would have been deleted long ago if Tomlinson and Styles were not in a relationship.
Always in my heart @Harry_Styles . Yours sincerely, Louis
— Louis Tomlinson (@Louis_Tomlinson) October 2, 2011
Fans dubbed Styles and Tomlinson with the “shipping” name “Larry Stylinson,” and they have amassed a convincing body of material claiming that “Larry is real.” At the same time, other fans are outraged that the rumors about Tomlinson and Styles has deeply affected their relationship to the point where the Sun claims that they are barely on speaking terms .
Both Tomlinson and Styles have persistently been portrayed as womanizers by some sections of the media. Many fans believe that this is no more than a smokescreen created by One Direction’s management to hide the young star’s sexuality for fear of damaging the One Direction brand. Way back in 2012, Tomlinson replied to a fan on Twitter saying that “Larry is the biggest load of bulls**t I’ve ever heard. I’m happy why can’t you accept that,” but Larry claims are never far away.
The Daily Mirror reports that Larry drama erupted over the weekend after Tomlinson used a new Instagram feature to block the word “Larry” from his social media feed. It can’t be denied that anytime either Styles or Tomlinson post on social media they are bombarded by fan comments insisting that “Larry is real.” The story insists that fans are not deterred by Tomlinson’s action and have come up with new ways to ensure that Larry comments are seen by Styles and Tomlinson.
“It didn’t take long for One Direction fans, most of whom are convinced Harry and Louis had been in a relationship for years, to work it out and come up with other alternatives.
“Instead of Larry, you’ll now see ‘L&H’, ‘Stylinson’, ‘Houis’, ‘L@rry’, and even ‘L A R R Y.’”
Unfortunately for Tomlinson, his blocking of Larry from his feed did not have the desired effect as Metro reports that fans simply changed the way they posted their comments. As can be seen in the screenshot below, “Larry” comments still abound on Tomlinson’s social media posts.
Unreality TV take the drama one stage further by reporting that Harry Styles has confirmed that “Larry is real.” They report that a fan claims to have have had “a conversation with Harry online, and that when Harry was asked to indicate if Larry is real by sending an emoji, he apparently did just that.”
As you might imagine many of Styles’ fans were unconvinced, claiming that the fan had digitally altered a screenshot. The video below was posted to support the claim.
It is unlikely that Tomlinson or Styles will ever be able to step away from the rumors about their sexuality. Both sets of fans are equally convinced that their views on Larry are correct and many spend a lot of time searching for absolute proof to support their own views.
In other One Direction news, no fan will be unaware that Styles, Tomlinson, Horan and Payne are currently enjoying a well-earned break to pursue solo work. Faced with a constant barrage of claims that the boys will not reunite, many are making much of the fact that new merchandise has been made available on One Direction’s website.
#UPDATE | The One Direction official website has added “FUTURE EVENTS”!!!!! BEST NEWS ALL DAY LONG!!!! ???? pic.twitter.com/VeUj3KPNjI

Fans also point to the fact that a “future events” section has been added to the site. Whilst that section is currently empty, fans are convinced that we will soon be seeing Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles, Niall Horan and Liam Payne together as a group again.
