Nicole Kidman Battled Depression After Tom Cruise Divorce
Nicole Kidman revealed that she sunk into a deep depression after her divorce from Tom Cruise. During an interview with Who, an Australian magazine, the actress noted that she got married too fast and too young. Although she may wish she could turn back the clock and hold off a bit on tying the knot with the Mission: Impossible star, she is thankful the short allowed her to become a mother to Connor and Bella.
The Moulin Rouge leading lady got married when she was 23, in 1990. Kidman also recalled that for a period of time, she did have a fantastic marriage. The Australian actress believes that depression stemmed from not being able to conceive with Cruise, Radar Online notes.
Nicole had this to say about her marriage and divorce from Tom Cruise:
“When it didn’t work out I had to really dig deep and find my way through depression. I have no regrets about all of that. It was part of growing up. I had tried and failed and failed and failed. Not to be too detailed, but I’ve had an ectopic pregnancy, miscarriages and I’ve had fertility treatments. I’ve done all the stuff you can possibly do to try to get pregnant. Every woman who has been through all those ups and downs knows the depression that comes with it. So the way it just happened with Sunday, [daughter] I was like, ‘what?’ The percentages were so low. It is the miracle in my life.”
Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman divorced after 11 years of marriage. She married country music star Keith Urban in 2006. The couple added a second daughter, Faith, to their family, via a surrogate in 2011.
