iOS 10.0.2: iPhone Operating System Glitches Spark Speculation Of Updated iOS 10
iOS 10.0.2 could be coming quicker than you expected due to numerous problems with the iOS 10 launch and subsequent issues revolving around iOS 10.0.1, which launched the same day as the iOS 10 operating system.
Product-Review.net notes the problems with iOS 10 and reported that it was nearly unheard of for Apple to have launched iOS 10.0.1 on the same day as the iOS 10 release. For this reason, it reports that iOS 10.0.2 being released in the not too distant future is not out of the realm of possibility.
Before diving into what an iOS 10.0.2 could look like, let us first look at the problems with the iOS 10 launch which led to the iOS 10.0.1 release on the same day this week.
Pangu Jailbreak reports that Apple’s iOS 10 operating system likely had a jailbreak which could have been patched with the iOS 10.0.1 update. But the other obvious issue is the amount of iPhones that were becoming a “brick” as a result of the update, according to Product Review.
The other issues that have so far been reported with the iOS 10 update include battery life issues, as well as WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity problems, according to Product Review.
It suggests that instead of waiting for Apple to release an iOS 10.0.2 update to fix these problems, iOS 10 users can take the following steps to protect their devices and improve performance.
“You need to also make certain that certain apps and their features are not running in the background since the update, such as Background Refresh, turn off Fitness Tracking, and also make certain that Brightness is set to auto.”
“The dreaded Wi-Fi and Bluetooth issues come up every year, and so we are not surprised to see a return of it with iOS 10. However, the best way around this is to go to Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This will make certain that all those old settings have been deleted, and so you can start afresh.”
One thing Product Review notes is missing from iOS 10 is the slide to unlock feature, which it suggests could return with the iOS 10.0.2 update whenever it is released. That said, the likelihood of Apple releasing an updated iOS 10.0.2 that reverses previous coding and engineering decisions would be a difficult thing to imagine, with Product Review agreeing with our assessment.
With all the information floating out there about a possible iOS 10.0.2 update hitting the market in coming weeks or months, should you wait for that update to do iOS 10.0.1 now? From the cheap seats, we suggest waiting until the latest model comes out. That is what we have done to ensure that there are no further issues such as bricking that have come to light with the iOS 10 update. Waiting allows Apple to work out the kinks and get everything just right prior to potentially damaging your really expensive investment.
MacWorld explored the same question a few days back on whether to update to iOS 10 or wait for a possible iOS 10.0.2. Their answer is non-committal but similar to our suggestion.
The key users they suggest could wait for the iOS 10.0.2 update are those who heavily depend on mapping software on their iPhone, those who have a smart home, as well as iPhone 5 and iPhone 5C users.
The last group who may want to wait for the iOS 10.0.2 update, according to MacWorld, are those who have not yet backed update their devices.
“I recommend a tethered backup to iTunes so you can check the ‘encrypt’ box, which backs up your passwords and Health data too,” writer Susie Ochs wrote. “But an iCloud backup is fine too. If you can’t be bothered at the moment, hold off on updating until you do.”
