Paul Walker’s Character, Brian O’Conner, Could Return In Future ‘Fast & Furious’ Sequels

Paul Walker tragically lost his life in a car accident back in late 2013, and it’s hard to believe that he has already been gone almost three years. Even though he has a lot of films to his credit, Walker may be best known for the part of Brian O’Conner in the Fast & Furious franchise, which has earned a ton of money around the world. Well, the sequels are not going to stop coming anytime soon, and it now appears that his character could very well return.

Despite some “family feuds” on the set of Fast 8, it appears that everyone has gotten over the issues and are once again cool with one another. Not a lot is known about the plot of the film due out next year, but it’s not like it will be anything but awesome, like the majority of the others.

When Paul Walker died in November of 2013, he was right in the middle of filming Furious 7, and there were still a few scenes that needed to be completed. His brothers, Caleb and Cody, stepped in to help complete the extra scenes and with CGI, things worked out pretty flawlessly.

At the end of the film, Walker’s character of Brian O’Conner rides off into the sunset, but the character is not killed off. So, in the movie world of Fast & Furious, he’s still alive.

Walker played the role of Brian O’Conner in six of the franchise’s seven films to date, but could the character somehow return?

Entertainment Tonight Online recently spoke with Caleb Walker and Cody Walker to discuss a number of things, especially the second annual Game4Paul fundraiser, but other topics were on hand. They discussed working on Furious 7 and filling in for their brother, and Caleb says that it helped them mourn his loss.

“We got to understand more about Paul, and what he was all about. We had to share Paul with a lot of people, in a weird way. He was gone a lot, he was filming, so we missed him. Sometimes at the holidays he wasn’t always there, you know? He tried. We’d see him on set, we visited a few times, but to kind of get that closure, and understanding [of] Paul was really special.”

They also discussed how they got to know Vin Diesel much better and that he shared a lot of cool things with them about their brother. It was great for them to really get to know the people that knew Paul on a different level and spent so much time with him.

It was never a secret that Paul Walker and Vin Diesel were very close.

Caleb Walker still speaks with Diesel, and it appears as if there have been some discussions to bring back Brian O’Conner in a future Fast & Furious sequel. While it wouldn’t be a major part, it would certainly be a major accomplishment to even bring him back for a cameo.

“I had a phone call with Vin for about an hour and we really discussed this a while back. He wanted [our] blessing. [Diesel asked if and when they thought it] would be acceptable to maybe bring Paul’s character back… to really kind of let his fans know he’s still out there.”

Everyone involved would want to be respectful to the character, but more importantly to Paul Walker and his memory. If it were to ever happen, Universal Pictures wants to make sure that Walker’s friends, image, and especially his family’s wishes are honored.

Fast 8 is going to be released on April 14, 2017, and the cast is as big as ever. Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Ludacris, Charlize Theron, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Jason Statham, Kurt Russell, Lucas Black, and many others will fill out the cast.

With Fast 8 set to come out next year, there are certainly going to be a number of other sequels in the franchise, but just how many will have the main cast? Most of the same cast members have starred in each film, but they can only do all of this for so long. If they end up bringing back Paul Walker’s Brian O’Conner, it would entail a lot of work, but it could be quite interesting.

Would you want to see him again?
