WWE Rumors: Will Hulk Hogan Return For ‘Wrestlemania 33’?

Hulk Hogan has frequently been the subject of various WWE rumors, and not always for the right reasons. But this latest round of WWE rumors about the disgraced wrestling legend just may prove the most beneficial for his career with the company: that not only will he return, he will return just in time for Wrestlemania 33!

That’s, of course, if you believe Forbes Magazine, whose reporting of these WWE rumors suggest that the company is finally ready to “phase him back into” the programming. Forbes reporter Anthony DiMoro has a well-placed source in the company, and this source claims that when the racism scandal first hit — a scandal that cost Hulk Hogan his job with the company in the first place — Hogan’s name wasn’t mentioned at all, but now, they’re starting to mention him in both the programming and the promotion set up for Wrestlemania 33.

But Forbes Magazine is suggesting that Hogan won’t return to the ring; rather, he’ll return to the company as a general manager, much like Mick Foley and Triple H are currently doing in the company.

Other WWE rumors about Hulk Hogan’s return suggest that the wrestler will be returning to the ring to actually fight during Wrestlemania 33. According to The Gamer’s Drop, Hulk Hogan will return in April and take on an old nemesis, The Undertaker. The last time the two faced off in the ring was during the WWF (yes, back when the company was the World Wrestling Federation) Survivor Series. And though we know why Hogan has been laying low as of late, we haven’t heard much from The Undertaker since the beginning of this year.

And while there have been a few unsubstantiated rumors that The Undertaker will be involved in a fatal four-way match with Goldberg, Brock Lesnar, and Sting at Wrestlemania 33, nothing has been confirmed in proverbial stone as of yet. If that fatal four-way turns out to be true, however, it will provide a much-needed boost to the Wrestlemania lineup, which seems to be floundering as of late — a rarity, really, for the event, but one that can easily be resolved as time goes on, and we get closer to the premiere date. And, of course, don’t forget that Wrestlemania is always full of surprises!

Still, many of these WWE rumors about Hulk Hogan’s impending return are substantiated by Hogan himself. According to the International Business Times UK, the 63-year-old fighter has an ally in Eric Bischoff, who told the outlet that he isn’t surprised about the company’s about-face on the superstar:

“The fact that he was in the documentary suggested to me that they were probably going to, over time, reintegrate Hulk back in to the WWE content. I’m not surprised. I’m happy. I think the fans want to see that. I don’t think the fans are nearly as sensitive to some of the obvious issues as perhaps the business side of the equation is. Look, there’s a saying, ‘Time heals all wounds.’ I believe it will.”

In addition, when Hogan went on Bischoff’s podcast recently, he mentioned that he would like to continue to “get back into the good graces” of the WWE. But, at the end of the day, the McMahon family knows numbers very well — and they know that, if nothing else, Hulk Hogan does numbers for the company in terms of viewership and merchandise sales. No other wrestler in history has made the impact on popular culture that Hulk Hogan has, and though nothing will justify his racist comments, he will always be a legendary wrestler.
