NCAA Football: Ranking The Top Five Big Ten Teams In Week 3
The 2016 college football season is set to enter Week 3 and there have already been quite a few upsets and stories. It is looking like the 2016 season could end up being one of the most entertaining years that college football fans have enjoyed in recent years.
Looking ahead to Week 3, the Inquisitr has already broken down five games that fans should watch and consider potential upsets. There are a few games that may surprise some fans. Others are simply obvious upset picks that could happen between ranked teams going up against each other.
Needless to say, it will be interesting to see which ranked teams fall this week. At this point in time, the Big Ten conference has five teams ranked within the top-25. It has been a good year thus far for the conference, although there are a few teams that could be in danger this week.
Taking the Big Ten rankings into consideration, there are a few teams that are hard to pick between. As the season continues on the conference will begin to take form, but for now, it is a major jumble at the top of the rankings.
All of that being said, which five teams rank ahead of the rest in the Big Ten football conference heading into Week 3 of the NCAA football schedule?
1. Ohio State Buckeyes, 2-0
Urban Meyer and the Ohio State Buckeyes are sitting atop the Big Ten standings at this point in time. They may not end up being at the top long-term, but there is no reason to bump them down right now. J.T. Barrett is playing extremely well and at this point in time they appear to be a serious National Championship contender.
2. Michigan Wolverines, 2-0
Jim Harbaugh and the Michigan Wolverines are right behind their rivals. Michigan sits comfortable at the No. 2 spot in the rankings, but will continue pushing Ohio State as they look to take the top spot. It has been a few years since the Wolverines were viewed as serious contenders, but they are back and are demanding respect from the nation.
3. Wisconsin Badgers, 2-0
After knocking off the No. 5 seeded LSU Tigers to open the season, Wisconsin immediately worked their way into the national picture. They have a very talented all-around team, although they may fade away a bit as the season moves on. Wisconsin is a well-coached group of players, and there are very few teams as connected as the Badgers appear to be this season.

4. Iowa Hawkeyes, 2-0
Last season was a huge step in the right direction for the Iowa football program. So far this season, C.J. Beathard and company have taken care of business and sit in the No. 4 spot in the Big Ten rankings. It will be intriguing to see whether they can replicate last year’s success or whether they end up falling apart at some point in the season.
5. Michigan State Spartans, 1-0
Mark Dantonio and the Michigan State Spartans will likely work their way up in the rankings, but for now, sit at No. 5 after their bye week. Michigan State struggled a bit at home against Furman, winning by a final score of 28-13. It may not be a sign of things to come, but the Spartans have some things to prove before moving up in the rankings.
Expect to see quite a bit of movement in the Big Ten rankings over the next few weeks. Teams are going to begin playing tougher teams, and we’ll finally see what each team is really made of.
