WWE News: Randy Orton Says He Would Fight ‘Little’ Conor McGregor

Published on: September 14, 2016 at 6:08 PM

Before Conor McGregor’s most recent UFC fight, he launched into a tirade against WWE superstars, calling them all “pi**ies” and saying he would slap the head off all of them. Many wrestlers including Roman Reigns, Ric Flair, and Becky Lynch took up for the WWE and now Randy Orton has added his name to the list.

Randy Orton was on Twitter on Tuesday and someone asked him if he would ever consider an MMA career . Orton took the humorous route by saying that he loves to make a lot of money “over and over” instead of once every six months.

Randy also said that he would probably fake punch someone and get choked out. After that, Orton took a shot at Conor McGregor.

The first shot in that quote by Randy Orton was calling Conor McGregor a “little person.” This is one of the biggest things that WWE stars have brought up when it comes to McGregor’s WWE comments. McGregor is 5’9? and weighs in at 170 pounds, which is even smaller than the WWE cruiserweight division.

Randy Orton is 6’5? and weighs 250 pounds. CM Punk, who made his UFC debut last Wednesday, weighs 6’2? and had to struggle to get to his fighting weight of 170 pounds. Punk is normally 190 pounds. While Conor McGregor likes to brag he could beat up the entire WWE lockerroom, he is severely outsized by almost the entire locker room.

The question about Randy Orton considering the UFC comes at a time where CM Punk made his debut there and was beaten easily in just two minutes. It also comes after the Inquisitr reported that Orton had to miss the Backlash PPV event because of a concussion suffered against former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar.

Conor McGregor’s comments about the WWE came shortly after Brock Lesnar failed a pair of drug tests after he competed at UFC 200. McGregor made comments about how Lesnar embarrassing the UFC and then after CM Punk lost, Conor said that he respected CM Punk, despite the loss.

The idea of Randy Orton even considering a UFC fight after his long and successful WWE career is ludicrous. Randy is a third generation professional wrestler and a 12-time world champion. He has nothing to prove in the UFC and seems in no way close to the idea of CM Punk to try everything. Orton clearly said that he would get beaten – probably badly.

However, Randy Orton also couldn’t resist taking a shot at Conor McGregor. The second insult in his comment was misquoting McGregor’s name, calling him McDonald. It might have been a mistake on the part of Orton, it could have been the fact that he really doesn’t know anything about him, or it could have been Randy calling Conor a clown.

Related WWE Reports By the Inquisitr

Randy Orton is currently out of action in the WWE. He was supposed to wrestle Bray Wyatt at Backlash but was pulled from the show based on concussion issues. Those were from the match with Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam , where the WWE booked Lesnar to legitimately beat Orton with stiff shots to the head.

Randy Orton was busted open in the match and was left a bloody mess in the middle of the ring, losing by TKO to Lesnar. It was the most brutal attack booked in the WWE in a long time and an unnecessary one because Randy blading would have been safer than Lesnar busting him open with real punches. It is unclear when Randy Orton will return to a WWE ring, although he continued his feud with Bray Wyatt on SmackDown Live this week.
