‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Fans Respond To Sandra Oh’s Cristina Yang Bombshell
Former Grey’s Anatomy actress Sandra Oh finally confronted rumors she was returning to the medical drama as Cristina Yang last week, but fans aren’t exactly happy with her response.
After months of speculation claiming that Oh could be reprising her role in the ABC drama in the upcoming 13th season, Sandra recently shut down the reports in an interview with Entertainment Tonight Canada, leaving Grey’s Anatomy fans sad and annoyed by the admission that she has no plans to return.
After months of speculation from Grey’s Anatomy’s loyal viewers that Cristina could find her way back to Grey Sloan Memorial during Season 13, which is set to premiere on ABC on September 22, Oh slammed the rumors and confirmed that she would not be headed back to the series anytime soon.
“No, I have no plans to return to Grey’s anytime soon,” Sandra said. “I’ve gotta tell you those rumors, I don’t know who starts them but it really is tough.”
Understandably, Grey’s Anatomy’s dedicated viewers weren’t too happy that Oh put an end to the rumors with some not-so-great news after months of speculation suggesting she could be returning, causing a number of disappointed fans to flock to social media to vent their frustrations.
“Sandra confirmed she has no plans to return to Grey’s sooooo that also makes me annoyed,” Twitter user @renatavee tweeted out after the actress made the disappointing confession that Cristina Yang would not return just yet.
Meanwhile, @acrowen wrote, “Sandra said she hasn’t had no plans to return to Grey’s Anatomy my heart has broken again.”
“Sandra Oh stated in an interview that she has no plans to return to Grey’s and I am SO hurt,” Grey’s Anatomy fan @amytuchains added on the 140-character site. “What happened to being mere’s person [shaking my head].”
But while some fans vented their frustration that won’t be seeing Sandra back as Cristina Yang anytime soon, others took to the social media site to defend the actress following her admission that she won’t be bringing back the fan favorite character just yet.
“Sandra doesn’t say she doesn’t care about grey’s anymore, she will always be in love but she has new projects, respect it and don’t judge,” @acrowen hit back amid the negativity over Oh’s confession, and @IaureIcastillos tweeted, “Sandra is gonna come back to Grey’s for the series finale I trust god let her live.”
The news that Sandra would not be bringing her Grey’s Anatomy character back to the halls of Grey Sloan Memorial came just days after speculation that she was planning a secret return hit fever pitch after rumors began to speculate that Yang would make her big return in Episode 2 of Season 13.
Grey’s Anatomy fans took to social media in droves to speculate on her potential return after a Twitter user claimed that the title for the second episode had leaked onto the web and confirmed Sandra’s much-anticipated return.

Grey’s Anatomy fan @The_GreyMethod posted a screen shot of what was rumored to be the second episode title, “The Return of Cristina Yang,” to the social media site, which got the drama’s dedicated viewers seriously excited that Cristina would finally be making her way back after the character left the hospital in 2014.
However, the rumored title turned out to be nothing more than just that, as The Futon Critic has since confirmed that the second episode of season 13 of Grey’s Anatomy is actually titled “Catastrophe and the Cure.”
Grey’s Anatomy Season 13 will debut on ABC on September 22.
