New ‘Iron Man 3’ Pictures Leak Online, Show Extremis Armor Side-By-Side With Iron Patriot

New pics for the first film in Marvel’s “Phase Two,” Iron Man 3, have leaked online, giving us a good look at Robert Downey Jr.’s new duds alongside what comic fans have taken to calling the “Iron Patriot” armor.

Let’s catalog the Iron Man 3 spoilers leaked thus far over the summer: First, pictures and speculation regarding the above-mentioned “Iron Patriot” after images of the armor leaked online. Then, rumors about the film’s villains surfaced. Downey Jr. will apparently be facing up to four, including comic book arch-nemesis “The Mandarin” who was reportedly responsible for Tony Stark’s capture in the first film (fans knew that the whole “Ten Rings” terrorist outfit wasn’t a coincidence). There’s also rumor of a 47-strong Iron Man army and the ultimate destruction of Tony Stark’s home.

More photos have just leaked via the Daily Mail, showing Iron Man’s new, primarily golden armor standing alongside the Iron Patriot suit.

The latest report is that the Iron Patriot armor is a simple re-paint of the War Machine suit from Iron Man 2 , unrelated to the comic book character “Iron Patriot” (which would have been confusing, since fans know that this armor was worn by Spider-man villain Norman Osborn during his “Dark Avengers” stint).

Robert Downey Jr. is also back to work on Iron Man 3 after an ankle injury had side-lined him for nearly seven weeks, reports ScreenRant.

Iron Man 3 releases May 3, 2013, Thor 2 on November 8, 2013, Captain America 2 on April 4, 2014 and Guardians of the Galaxy on August 1, 2014. After that, it’s full-steam ahead toward Avengers 2.
