‘Southern Charm’ Jennifer Snowden Gives Birth To Son Ascher In Charleston, SC
Southern Charm cast member Jennifer Snowden has beaten the odds, and carried her son, James Ascher to term, despite a rare neural tube birth defect. Snowden’s baby boy was born yesterday via c-section in Charleston, SC. The baby, who Jennifer will call by his middle name, Ascher, faces major surgery within days for the brain encephalocele he was diagnosed with in utero.
On Bravo’s Southern Charm, Jennifer Snowden came to be known as the only female friend of the cast who took the side of Kathryn Dennis, and served as her confidante while she was pregnant with her son last fall, according to the Inquisitr. Though she was frozen out for taking Kathryn’s side, Jennifer stayed loyal through the third season of Southern Charm, and was accused by Whitney, Patricia, and Thomas Ravenel of being a spy for Kathryn when she attended Patricia’s pink flamingo party.
By the time Southern Charm Season 3 had its reunion, Jennifer Snowden was visibly pregnant with her son by boyfriend Lee, and shared the news of Ascher’s diagnosis with viewers. But over the months, Jennifer has said that Ascher’s encephalocele was shrinking, which improved his prognosis, says the Daily Mail.
Snowden, 35, delivered Ascher by a scheduled c-section early yesterday morning, according to a close source.
“Jennifer had a C-section yesterday morning but the baby was immediately placed in the hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit and will have to undergo surgery within a few days.”

Snowden shared her optimism that the encephalocele on Ascher’s brain would continue to heal, and perhaps they could avoid surgery so soon after birth. She has been very open with Southern Charm fans about her journey.
“We’ve been on a crazy emotional trajectory with this little guy but are so blessed by the news from 7/28 & hopeful that his prognosis remains the same or, God willing, even better once he’s born & the doctors can evaluate him more.”
Daily Mail reported that former Southern Charm cast mate Kathryn Dennis was among Jennifer’s friends at the hospital at the time of Ascher’s birth. Ascher was delivered on Lee’s father’s birthday, which, according to Snowden, will make it an even more special day for her family. Jennifer has expressed to her fans how excited she is to have a little boy.
“I absolutely LOVE little boys, always have, starting with my youngest brother Gray’s birth when I was 11. I think I’ve kind of been a mom in my own eyes since then, so this has been a long time coming!”

As the new season of Southern Charm has just started shooting, Jennifer Snowden is now a full-time member of the cast, says the Inquisitr, and at least for now, Kathryn Dennis is out. There is no word on whether the birth of Ascher will be part of the show. As of this post, Whitney and his mother Patricia are still not on board for Season 4 of Southern Charm, but Thomas Ravenel, who has quit each season, is officially a member of the cast, as is Shep Rose.
