Zayn Malik has not had an easy time adjusting to fame since his boy band One Direction broke out onto the international stage. According to fellow singer Liam Payne, the new pop star has had a “terrible time” when it comes to the criticism he reads online.
In all fairness, the youngster quickly shot to fame thanks to his appearance on the UK’s version of the X Factor. In 2010, Malik and his fellow singers were a group of unknown boys who appeared separately on the show. Today the guys are multi-platinum selling artists with millions of fans.
While Payne admits that most of the comments the group receives are positive, he notes that Malik temporarily deleted his Twitter account because of mean comments.
In an interview with Britain’s The Sun, Payne reveals:
“We’ve (the band) had such a good laugh together and achieved so much together. We’re definitely like brothers.”
“The only person I really worry about is Zayn, because I don’t think he’s quite accustomed to all of this. He had a terrible time on Twitter… I don’t think he’s quite adjusted to it yet. I’m sure he’ll get it. He’s my best mate. I’ve got to look out for him.”
So far, Zayn Malik has not shown the type of stress fame has brought to such artists as Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan, and countless other Hollywood types who have went off the deep end. Then again, it took those artists years to reach the point of falling off the deep end.
