‘American Horror Story’ Season 6 Spoilers: Everything We Know So Far
American Horror Story Season 6 premieres on Wednesday, and fans still don’t have a clue what to expect. The show’s theme has been kept under wraps, and even some of the casting is unconfirmed. Viewers will be going in blind, and not knowing what to expect when the first episodes airs later this week. The show has gone to great lengths to hide the storyline from fans and even released fake teaser trailers to throw viewers off. However, some spoilers have been dropped over the past few weeks.
According to TV Guide, even though American Horror Story Season 6 is still a huge mystery, there are a few things that fans can expect to see when the season premiere finally drops. Perhaps the biggest hint about Season 6 comes from set photos that were leaked online. In the photos, it’s clear that the lost colony of Roanoke will be a factor.
TMZ was the first to release the photos, which featured a 16th-century farm. The site also reported that cast members were seen dressed in Colonial clothing. Another snapshot featured a tree with the word “Croatoan” carved into it. This is perhaps the only real clue fans have about what they’ll see in Season 6.
This won’t be the first time that Roanoke is featured on the show. Back in the first season, titled Murder House, Sarah Paulson’s character, Billie Dean Howard, said that a Native American chief vanished the ghosts of the Roanoke settlers with a curse, and that “Croatoan” was the word used to seal the spell. Later, Taissa Farmiga’s character, Violet, attempted to use the word to banish Chad, played by Zachary Quinto. However, it didn’t work.
Meanwhile, fans also know that the new season will have multiple timelines. Back in January, FX CEO John Landgraf confirmed that Season 6 would be “set in two time periods,” saying it will be “in the present, with echoes of the past.” This is no surprise to American Horror Story fans, who are used to the show jumping around in time to tell the story of each season.
Rumors are flying that because of the multiple timelines, fans will get a glimpse of some ghosts of the Roanoke colonists who may still haunt in the present day. A popular theory is that the colonists’ disappearances were a result of a demonic cult, which could still be active in the present time.
American Horror Story viewers can also expect to see a lot of children in Season 6. The show’s creator, Ryan Murphy, has promised that the new season will have “elements of children.” This leads some fans to believe that the Antichrist will be featured prominently on the series, which could link viewers back to Season 1 when Vivien Harmon gave birth to the Antichrist, who was adopted by Jessica Lange’s character, Constance.
In addition to solving a mystery from the Murder House installment, American Horror Story may also solve a big mystery from Season 2, Asylum. Asylum is considered the best season of the series to date, but left fans will an unanswered question. After the character of Tate was abducted by aliens and taken to Briarcliffe, Dr. Arden removed a small metal spider from his neck. It had been put there by the aliens, but its purpose was never explained. In new teaser trailers for Season 6, spiders and aliens are both referenced. Will fans finally get a Season 2 mystery solved?
The final thing American Horror Story lovers can look forward to is the cast. Although many names haven’t been confirmed, it seems that Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Lady Gaga, Angela Bassett, Matt Bomer, Kathy Bates, Finn Wittrock, Wes Bentley, Cheyenne Jackson, Denis O’Hare, and Leslie Jordan will return for unknown roles. Actress Emma Roberts has also hinted that she’ll play a small part, and rumors are circulating that Cuba Gooding Jr. may also make an appearance on the series.
