How ‘Teen Wolf’ Writers Covered For Dylan O’Brien’s Absence During Part Of Season 6 2016 [Spoilers]
Teen Wolf writers were faced with quite a challenge trying to film at least some of the episodes for Season 6 of the MTV supernatural teen drama without their star. It took a great deal of creativity to come up with a plot line that would explain Dylan’s extended absence from the show.
Dylan O’Brien’s absence, at first due to his obligations to finish the Maze Runner 2 film, and later due to a tragic accident on the set of Maze Runner 2: Death Curse, left writers scrambling for a solution not once but twice. In the end, they stuck with the original solution, but it seems they had to extend their mysterious plot quite a bit, due to delays in O’Brien’s recovery.
Dylan O’Brien has been unable to work for seven months and counting. It is hoped that Dylan will be able to return to the set in October. Season 6 will premiere November 15 for its final season, without O’Brien, except perhaps for a few scenes shot before his work on Maze Runner. It is believed that O’Brien will appear in later episodes of Season 6, but no one knows.

What Teen Wolf writers have done in the meantime is quite ingenious and should leave viewers really on the edge of their seats and wondering about the fate of Dylan’s character Styles. Despite the fact that it is a workaround situation designed to explain Dylan’s absence, the plot is quite enthralling. Jeff Davis is quoted by UPI hinting at the mysterious plot line.
“Stiles is a big part of the season because a lot of this season’s mystery revolves around him. We’re going to see just what Stiles’ friendship means to Scott, Lydia, and Malia. We’re going to see exactly why he’s Scott’s best friend, what it means that he’s Malia’s human anchor, and what his will-they-or-won’t-they relationship is with Lydia.”
Dylan O’Brien’s absence will reveal things about the character Styles and the overall plot that have remained unsaid, and perhaps even secret in his presence. Season 6 will have a number of big reveals.
Teen Wolf writers have created the ultimate cliffhanger, and it will run through many of the Season 6 teen thriller episodes, with each one making viewers wait to see when Styles will be found and recovered, or if he will ever come back. The plan, of course, is to bring back the main character, but really that all depends on O’Brien’s health.
Dylan O’Brein’s character Styles will vanish, but none of the other characters will even notice the teen’s absence at first. How could that be? Scott McCall, played by Tyler Posey, is Styles’ best friend right? Won’t he notice right away he is missing a buddy? Malia Tate and Lydia Martin, that’s Shelley Henning and Holland Roden, are also inexplicably unconcerned with Styles’ disappearance. Jeff Davis is quoted by Counsel and Heal News.

Teen Wolf writers have conceived of a monster or group of ghostly monsters on horseback who can deal out a fate much worse than death. These are truly supernatural beings, not just the hack and slash kind, but the really terrifying ghostly type. They are called Ghost Riders, and their power is completely beyond anything that has ever been created for the show. Jeff Davis is quoted in Counsel and Heal News, tickling the curiosity of fans.
“We’ve had seasons where there’s just bodies dropping everywhere, and we wanted to do something frightening but different. What’s scarier than death? Being forgotten. Being completely erased.”

Teen Wolf writers have really outdone themselves with the Season 6 plot. They have managed what promises to be the most interesting season yet, focusing on a star that isn’t even there. The resulting episodes will keep viewers spellbound.
Teen Wolf writers pulled off the final season, even with Dylan O’Brien’s absence with plot building and spooky new Ghost Riders.
