Song Joong-Ki may have just dropped a bombshell at the Seoul Drama Awards 2016, with a, interview that appeared to reveal that he is indeed in a relationship with co-star Song Hye-Kyo.
The Descendants of the Sun stars have been a topic for plenty of speculation, with fans wondering if the two that share an incredible on-screen chemistry are actually dating in real life as well. There have been rampant reports that the two have been secretly dating, but so far, there has been no official confirmation from either actor.
Song Joong-Ki was in attendance at the award show, but Song Hye-Kyo did not make it, IBT reported. Fans had been hoping that the pair might appear together and confirm the rumors that they are in a relationship, but it turns out that Song Joong-Ki may have done just that.
In a red carpet interview, he noted how Song Hye-Kyo sent him a gift during filming for Battleship Island. In doing so, he may have also revealed that the two are now more than just co-stars.
"She not only sent a coffee truck, she sent a snack truck too. She's the best partner," he said, prompting fans to jump on his wording and speculate that he was confirming their romantic relationship.
Song Joong-Ki and Song Hye-Kyo are not the only Asian television stars caught up in dating rumors. In the Philippines, the stars of the Eat Bulaga drama, KalyeSeyre, Maine Mendoza and Alden Richards, shocked fans when they appeared to enter into a real relationship.
The two sparked a national phenomenon with their AlDub drama, which followed the twisting and winding relationship between Alden and Yaya Dub and all the obstacles that fell into their path. The show drew millions of fans to watch each day and got as many as 40 million tweets for their daily hashtags. Now, as the ratings for the extended soap opera leveled off and Maine Mendoza and Alden Richards have moved on with other projects, it appears that the two became a couple in real life. Their new relationship left many fans thrilled, but also brought some doubt. As Zeibiz noted, some followers believe that Maine and Alden's relationship is just a publicity ploy.
"On social media, fans and followers couldn't contain their happiness and excitement with the new twist in KalyeSerye. Many vows to gave their full support to the program and AlDUb love team. Some hoped that their relationship was for real. However, bashers criticized the new romance saying that it was a gimmick to revive the fading popularity of the Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza 'AlDub' love team in KalyeSerye."There is no official confirmation that Song Joong-Ki and Song Hye-Kyo are dating as the pair has been careful not to address the swirling rumors that have only intensified after Descendants of the Sun came to an end in April. There are some who believe that their silence is actually a calculated plan to build attention not only for them but for Descendants of the Sun, which is reportedly still up for renewal for a second season.
When asked about the alleged relationship, Song Joong-Ki has always been careful about his wording.
"I will do my best to safeguard the privacy of the person I love and respect her feelings. I may also want to keep the [relationship] a secret," he said (via IBT).There is still a chance that Song Joong- Ki and Song Hye-Kyo could officially confirm their relationship in the near future. There are rumors that Song Hye-Kyo will make an appearance at Song Joong-Ki's upcoming birthday bash on September 19 to make their relationship official.
