‘Descendants Of The Sun’s’ Song Joong Ki Ditched By Song Hye-Kyo At Seoul Drama Awards 2016: Is SongSong Officially Over?
Song Joong Ki was there. Shin Min Ah was there. But as Asia Times reports, one member of the Descendants of the Sun cast was mysteriously missing from the Seoul Drama Awards 2016: Song Hye Kyo. Hye-Kyo’s absence from the popular Korean drama awards show has many fans wondering if this means that SongSong is officially over?
SongSong is the name fans use to refer to the relationship between Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo. Since their hugely popular stint as love interests on Descendants of the Sun, many K-drama fans have been speculating that the two actors were dating in real life.
These rumors were fueled by the fact that both Joong Ki and Hye Kyo were seen together looking very close outside of South Korea. As Movie News Guide reports, the two former K-drama co-stars were seen in New York running errands together earlier this year. There have also been lots of rumors that SongSong is planning to make their relationship official by getting married, but both actors have repeatedly denied these claims.
Fans had hoped that speculation would be confirmed at the Seoul Drama Awards 2016. But Song Hye Kyo did not show up, although there were previous reports that she was expected to attend the star-studded event.

According to Movie News Guide, Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo may be hiding their relationship because they are focused on their career aspirations.
Although she wasn’t there, Hye Kyo’s name was still mentioned by Joong Ki during the Seoul Drama Awards. While he was on stage collecting an award, the presenters asked him what he was thinking about in that moment, the Descendants of the Sun star actor said that he thought Song Hye Kyo should have gotten the award that night.

Although the opportunity to confirm their relationship was lost at the Seoul Drama Awards, as the Inquisitr recently reported there may be another opportunity coming up at Song Joong Ki’s birthday party on September 19.
According to the Inquisitr article, the venue of Joong Ki’s birthday party has not been confirmed as yet and there’s no guarantee that Song Hye Kyo will be there. But SongSong fans have their fingers crossed that Song Joong Ki’s agency, Blossom Entertainment, will drop the details soon.
They’re also waiting on confirmation on Descendants Of The Sun Season 2, especially since both Songs have said that they would not be involved in filming the follow-up to their blockbuster drama. Their reluctance to shoot a new installment of the series has to do with other career commitments, Chatt Sport Net reports. However, their decision to abandon the show has had troubling consequences the popular drama’s second season.
According to Gameguide, the director of the Korean drama’s second season has quit because of SongSong’s decision to bow out of a second DOTS installment. This follows the resignation of one of the show’s writers who decided that he did not want to come back for a second season of Descendants of the Sun. So now there are rumors that the show will be canceled.
