‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Spoilers: What’s Next For The Couples In Season 13?
Grey’s Anatomy Season 13 premieres later this month, and there are so many questions that need to be answered. After the Season 12 finale, it seemed like all of the Grey Sloan couples were in peril. So, what’s next in the romance department for the fans’ favorite pairs?
According to Entertainment Weekly, one of the biggest romantic storylines of Season 13 will be the love triangle between Meredith, Riggs, and Maggie. Even though Meredith is currently the only one who knows that they’re in a triangle, it should get awkward and messy for the threesome. When last viewers saw Meredith, she had been secretly hooking up with Dr. Nathan Riggs but had just found out that her half-sister Maggie also has a thing for the handsome doctor. Actress Ellen Pompeo recently dished on Meredith’s sticky situation.
“She’s finding herself in this triangle that Maggie for sure is going to see as a betrayal. Call me crazy, but I smell a little drama.”
The show’s creator, Shonda Rhimes also weighed in on the love triangle, saying that there won’t be a cat fight because Grey’s Anatomy isn’t a show that is about a guy coming between two women. The triangle should lead to some interesting scenes between Meredith and Maggie, and it will be their first real obstacle as sisters.
Grey’s Anatomy viewers also can’t wait to see what will happen with Alex and Jo. In the Season 12 finale it was revealed that Jo refused to marry Alex because she was already married. After a drunken night, Jo told Andrew that she had been married to a crazy, abusive man in the past. Jo opened up about escaping him and hiding from him for years, adding that she doesn’t even use her real name. Alex has no idea about any of this, and the two are definitely on shaky ground. “They bonded over their past, and to leave that part of her past out, he’s going to feel very betrayed,” actor Justin Chambers says of his character, Alex.
All eyes will also be on Jackson and April in Season 13. The pair is among one of the most beloved of Grey’s Anatomy viewers, and they’ve had a very rocky couple of seasons. Currently, they are divorced, but welcomed a child together in the Season 12 finale. Could this mean a romantic reunion is in their future? Fans are keeping their fingers crossed that the baby will bring them back together.
Miranda and Ben are also going through a tough time in their marriage. Since Dr. Bailey was named chief of surgery, her husband has been on the back burner. When he was suspended from his residency, things got even more heated. However, fans aren’t worried, and believe that Bailey and Ben will work through their issues, and do it with humor. “Even if Bailey gets jealous of somebody, or even if he’s having a hard time with her job, there’s something lovely about watching them figure this thing out together,” Shonda Rhimes said of the pairing.
The newest Grey’s Anatomy married couple, Owen and Amelia, will also take center stage this season. Amelia will have to learn what it’s like to be married after her quickie wedding to Owen. Even though they’ve both had some bad relationships in the past, the couple may be able to heal each other through their relationship.
Viewers will also see Arizona get a new love interest in Season 13. Although many fans still prefer her coupled with Callie, it’s about time that Arizona had some happiness in her life. However, it will be later in the season since actress Jessica Capshaw took some time away from the show after giving birth to her youngest child.
