‘Vampire Diaries’ Star Ian Somerhalder Slams Nina Dobrev Reunion Rumors With One Swift Move
Ian Somerhalder has faced a lot of rumors about a possible reunion with Nina Dobrev.
After it was announced that Dobrev would return to The Vampire Diaries next season, those rumors only grew stronger. However, Somerhalder recently put to rest the reports of a coming reunion on Instagram.
According to iTech Post, the Vampire Diaries star shared a photo of him posing with his wife, Nikki Reed.
“My new screensaver for sure…” he wrote alongside the pic. “Brother @ernestoriley thanks for snapping this sweet photo of me and my better half.”
Somerhalder and Reed have fought rumors of divorce ever since they tied the knot. With Somerhalder and Reed joining forces on TV once again, fans thought it was only a matter of time before they got back together in real life.
Instead, Somerhalder looks more than happy with Reed. In fact, he even stated that he was a very lucky man after posting his most recent picture of Reed.
At the same time, Celeb Dirty Laundry reports that Somerhalder might join the cast of The Originals now that The Vampire Diaries is coming to an end. Some reports even have Dobrev joining the spin-off as Katherine Pierce, a 500-year-old vampire.
As fans will recall, Katherine wound up in Mystic Falls after Klaus Mikaelson (Joseph Morgan) chased her down in New Orleans.
If Somerhalder and Dobrev joined The Originals, then they would certainly boost the show’s ratings. The on-screen couple would also allow the series to go in a completely new direction next season.

Furthermore, the move would allow an aging Somerhalder to find work, which might be a difficult task now that The Vampire Diaries is over.
Of course, these rumors have not been confirmed by Somerhalder, Dobrev, or the network.
According to Celeb Dirty Laundry, fans can at least rest assured knowing that Somerhalder and Dobrev have worked through their past differences and made peace.
Does this mean Dobrev is willing to work alongside Ian Somerhalder in Season 8?
While fans still wait for an official announcement, Dobrev has been posting inspirational quotes on Instagram, hinting that all is well with her life.
“I’m a wannabe world changer, a frequent smiler and an avid forgiver,” she shared. “And a full-fledged compassion giver.”
Creator Julie Plec has already explained how she’s more than willing to bring Dobrev back into the fold. For now, it’s up to Dobrev to fulfill her promise of returning to the show in the final season.

More than likely, Dobrev will reprise her role as Elena Gilbert, which means an appearance on The Originals may not be in the cards.
After all, Dobrev is working on expanding her career in the movie industry and has had early success.
Is Dobrev willing to abandon future movie roles to star on The Originals?
For now, it isn’t even clear if Dobrev wants to work with Somerhalder on The Vampire Diaries, let alone star alongside her former boyfriend on The Originals.
According to Celeb Dirty Laundry, the tension between Dobrev and Somerhalder might prevent her appearance on either show, regardless if they have forgiven each other and moved on.
Until more information is revealed, International Business Times is reporting that Somerhalder’s relationship with Reed couldn’t be any stronger.
Matt Davis, another Vampire Diaries cast member, recently shared a pic of Somerhalder and Reed making out beside a pool.
“An inspiration, a goal, a reality. I love you guys,” Davis captioned the photo on Instagram.
At the same time, Somerhalder’s co-star, Kat Graham, echoed Davis’ sentiments by explaining why she thinks Somerhalder and Reed are perfect for each other.
“Why I think they’re so perfect is because of their philanthropy,” she said. “They have the same values when it comes to people, how you treat people, how you treat animals, how you treat the world, the environment.”
Season 8 of The Vampire Diaries will premiere Oct. 21 on The CW.
