Chris Hemsworth’s Hilarious ‘Thor’ Mockumentary, And How He Unwinds In His ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ Downtime In Australia

Chris Hemsworth might have earned fame by playing the role of the Marvel Comics superhero Thor on the big screen, but he’s still far away from being stereotyped as a typical action hero.

The Australian multi-talented actor has shown his skills as a comedian by entertaining audiences with his acts in movies like Ghostbusters and television shows like Saturday Night Live. Now, the actor has again showcased his funny side in a newly released video that humorously explains the reason why Thor was not featured in Captain America: Civil War, the movie from the Marvel franchise which shows various Marvel superheroes battling each other with contrasting ideals.

Titled as While You Were Fighting: A Thor Mockumentary, the short video attempts to explain how Thor kept himself busy while waiting to receive the war message. According to News Australia, while civil war raged between the superheroes, Chris Hemsworth’s Thor moved to Australia, where he taught school children and played a conspiracy buff by coming up with conspiracy theories on a bulletin board.

Apart from catching up with Bruce Banner in a coffee shop, Thor is also shown to have pestered his roommate to send a message to Tony Stark on his behalf. In the end, after realizing that none of his fellow superheroes had invited him to join them in the civil war, Thor resolves to start his own “Team Thor.”

The mockumentary was produced by Marvel and directed by Taika Waititi, the writer and director of the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok, which is currently being filmed in Australia.

Filming in Australia has given Chris Hemsworth plenty of opportunities to get involved in other value-added activities in his native country. While shooting in Brisbane, Chris Hemsworth dressed himself as Thor and visited Lady Cilento Hospital to bring a smile to the faces of sick children.

In another charitable act, the actor helped to raise funds for “Livin,” a charity that raises funds for promoting mental well-being amongst Australian citizens. The organization achieves its fundraising goals by selling its signature hoodies through its website. Chris Hemsworth indirectly helped the organization attain its objective when he was photographed in a “Livin” hoodie on the sets of Thor: Ragnarok, with the photograph becoming so popular that many of Hemsworth’s fans were motivated to buy the hoodie through the charity’s website.

In fact, sales of the product picked up so rapidly that the charity now claims to be struggling to fulfill the backlog of orders received from across the world. According to News Australia, Sam Webb, the CEO of “Livin,” spoke about the influence Chris Hemsworth had on the cause of the charity.

“The sales have absolutely skyrocketed, there has never been an influx like this before, Chris definitely knows what it’s all about.”

More recently, after the film unit wrapped up shooting in Brisbane, Chris Hemsworth and his wife Elsa Pataki decided to unwind by enjoying the weekend at the luxurious Qualia resort owned by the famous Oatley family, counted amongst Australia’s top businesspeople and winemakers.

Chris Hemsworth and his wife were also accompanied by Taika Waititi who also enjoyed the extravagant hospitality of Sandy Oatley. According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the climax of the Blackhat actor’s vacation came when he decided to enjoy a taste of ocean racing by briefly featuring in the team of Wild Oats XI, Sandy Oatley’s maxi yacht, on the last day of the Audi Hamilton island regatta.

The actor was dressed in a red spray jacket as he teamed with the crew that was lead by Captain Mark Richards and which also included Sandy Oatley. After enjoying the regatta, Chris Hemsworth relaxed by enjoying in the resort’s infinity pool and having dinner at the Pebble beach restaurant. The Oatley family’s hospitality was just what the actor needed to rejuvenate himself before flying back to the Gold Coast to resume filming Thor: Ragnarok.
