Rob Lowe The Latest Victim Of ‘Comedy Central Roasts’

Rob Lowe, the American actor, has been the latest roastee on Comedy Central Roasts, a series of televised roasts that earlier featured Justin Bieber, Donald Trump, and Charlie Sheen.

Rob Lowe was considered a perfect candidate for the roast as his acting career has been dominated by scandals and failures that have played a big part in the world of celebrity gossip and news over the years. Since the beginning of his career, the good-looking Rob Lowe had always been a big part of the 1980s infamous “brat pack” who indulged in drugs, alcohol, and nightclubs amidst their newly found fame.

In fact, reckless would be an appropriate word to describe the spoiled brats of the early 1980s. Rob Lowe carried on with his indulgence until his debauchery came to a screeching halt when a videotape surfaced that showed the then 24-year-old actor having sex with a minor, who later filed a lawsuit against him. The scandal turned out to be an eye-opener for Rob who had clearly embarrassed his family.

Later, despite being actively involved in show business, Rob Lowe failed to feature in blockbuster movies and television programs. In 2008, Rob Lowe was also involved in a legal hassle with an ex-nanny who was accused of spreading malicious rumors about him. According to People magazine, during the filming of the roast, Rob Lowe’s scandalous background provided much-needed ammunition for the roasting panel that included Peyton Manning, Jewel, Jeffrey Ross, Ralph Macchio, Pete Davidson, and Ann Coulter.

Out of all the celebrity roasters, Peyton Manning is the celebrity with whom Rob has crossed swords before. Earlier, Rob Lowe had criticized the former American Football player for missing an entire season of the game due to multiple neck surgeries. According to the Washington Post, Rob Lowe, a big supporter of the Indianapolis Colts, had created a Twitter storm when he posted a social media message that urged Peyton to retire due to his health issues.

The Killing Kennedy actor’s criticism on social media could have proved detrimental to Peyton’s career, had it not been for Peyton’s father who took great efforts to douse the rumors about his son’s retirement. Later, Peyton got back to the game and went on to win another Super Bowl. However, the sportsman has been bearing a grudge against Rob Lowe ever since the incident took place, so it was exciting for the audience to see whether Peyton would use the roasting platform to get even with Rob Lowe on the show.

Many of the celebrities who have featured as a roastee on the show had to deal with nasty jokes which were off-color at times, and Rob Lowe was no exception. Based on the experiences of previous roastees, it is evident that most of the times the guest will be seen taking even the meanest and the most corrosive jokes in good spirits.

Indeed, there are some roasters who have a knack of bantering in a smart way. According to People magazine, some of the best jokes about Rob Lowe were cracked by David Spade who was the Roastmaster in the television show.

People magazine reports that David Spade took a pot shot at Rob’s failure as an actor by comparing him with Brad Pitt.

“It’s not easy being Rob. He said being so handsome made it difficult for him to find meaningful roles. I wanted to ask Brad Pitt about that, but he was too busy acting in meaningful roles.”

But while Rob Lowe bore the brunt of the jokes during his roast, Variety reports that it was, in fact, Ann Coulter, the conservationist political commentator, who was burned the most.

A possible cause might be that Ann Coulter was the only conservative on the panel, comprised mainly of celebrities who held liberal views. It appeared that Ann Coulter was getting roasted more than Rob Lowe as the conservative has authored a pro-Trump book titled In Trump We Trust. It comes as no surprise that many of her fellow roasters attacked her by quipping on topics like gay marriage, Mexican workers, and anti-Muslim attitudes. The conservative was later booed by the audience when she tried to promote her book during Rob Lowe’s roast.
