WWE Rumors: Roman Reigns Pushing For Title Match At ‘Clash of Champions’?
The first ever brand-specific pay-per-view following the WWE brand split is WWE SmackDown’s Backlash. WWE Monday Night Raw will have their first PPV next with Clash of Champions and it looks like Roman Reigns is doing his part to make the main event nothing more than a repeat of the Universal Championship match that took place last week on Raw.
The clear Universal Championship match is Kevin Owens defending his title against Seth Rollins, who Triple H betrayed to help Owens capture the title last week. However, after Mick Foley gave Rollins the title shot at Clash of Champions, Roman Reigns showed up after Kevin Owens beat Sami Zayn in the main event of WWE Monday Night Raw last night and told Reigns he could get into the title match as well.
After Finn Balor had to forfeit the WWE Universal Championship match due to his injury, the new WWE Universal champion was decided in a four-way match between Kevin Owens, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, and Big Cass. Owens won the title when Triple H interfered.
Seth Rollins was given the Universal Championship match against Kevin Owens at Clash of Champions. That sounds like a great match, but then Roman Reigns came down and got in Owens’ face at the end of WWE Monday Night Raw and Mick Foley came out and booked Reigns to battle Owens next week for a chance to make the match a three-way for the title.

As The Inquisitr previously reported, the WWE had plans to reinsert Roman Reigns back into the main event scene after his wellness suspension and just one month on the mid card. That report indicated that it could happen right after SummerSlam and it was completely accurate.
Roman Reigns was feuding for the United States Championship heading into SummerSlam. At the show, Reigns attacked Rusev before the match even started and beat him down, the match ending as a no-contest. The next night on WWE Monday Night Raw, Roman won his way into the Universal Championship picture. The next week, he was fighting for the biggest title on WWE Monday Night Raw.
The fans are still not getting behind Roman Reigns, making one wonder why the WWE pushed Roman back into the main event scene before he could win the fans back over. However, there is a huge swerve that could help make this Clash of Champions match a success and help solidify Seth Rollins as a new babyface.
Forbes reported that putting Roman Reigns in the match will hurt Seth Rollins because fans will cheer Kevin Owens just to spite Roman and that will hurt Rollins’ chance to be a full babyface. However, the best thing the WWE could do would be for Roman Reigns to turn heel and betray Seth Rollins and help Owens win the match.

The biggest cries when it comes to Roman Reigns is to turn him into a heel. The WWE fans have been booing Roman for months now and making him a heel could be a huge move. Vince McMahon will have to give in and give up on Reigns being the face of the company for awhile.
Batista proved that WWE fans will continue to jeer Roman Reigns even if he turns heel, but if Roman plays off that with arrogance, he could fit in perfectly as a villain. He could also use his arrogance to get under the fans skin and become the biggest heel in the WWE if played right.
If the WWE puts Roman Reigns against Kevin Owens and Seth Rollins and keeps him a face, that could be the worst possible main event for Clash of Champions.
