Ian Somerhalder & Nina Dobrev Make Up, Joining Cast Of ‘The Originals’ After ‘Vampire Diaries’ Ends?

Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev may have finally put their feud behind them. The former couple who starred together on The Vampire Diaries for six seasons are likely going to reunite for the final season of the show and have reportedly called a truce so that they can film together yet again.

According to Celeb Dirty Laundry, Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev have gotten past their issues and are ready to work together again. Rumors were flying after the couple ended their relationship that an on-set feud was brewing. However, after Ian started dating Nina’s former friend Nikki Reed, whom he eventually married, things seemingly got worse. In the end, Dobrev decided to exit The Vampire Diaries, leaving her character Elena Gilbert in a suspended sleep. Elena can now only awaken when her best friend Bonnie dies.

After it was announced that The Vampire Diaries was set to end after the upcoming Season 8, fans basically started demanding that Nina Dobrev return as Elena to tie up the many loose ends she left behind. Showrunner Julie Plec has stated that Nina promised she would return for the end of the series, and that the actress is in talks to come back. Meanwhile, fans are anxiously awaiting the big news of her return.

However, if Nina does return to the show, it may not be as Elena. As Vampire Diaries fans know, Dobrev has played multiple characters in the series, including Katherine Pierce. Katherine was the vampire that Ian Somerhalder’s character, Damon Salvatore, fell in love with before ever meeting Elena. Damon spent a century looking for his lost love and found Elena in the process. The two fell in love, but Katherine still continued to play with their lives. When last fans saw the character she had taken the cure, become human, and died from old age.

However, rumors are circulating that Katherine may be making her return somehow in Season 8 of the series. If so, it should make for an interesting storyline for Damon, who is already possessed by some evil entity fans have yet to meet.

Viewers are now wondering if any of the Vampire Diaries cast members will transition to the spin-off series, The Originals after the series finale airs. Speculation is high that Ian Somerhalder, Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, and even Candice Accola may head over to the show in the future.

While it doesn’t seem likely that the cast members will transition over to The Originals, anything is possible. Ian Somerhalder seems to do his best work on TV, and if he can’t make it in the film industry, then the CW series could be a good fit for him to continue playing Damon for a few more years to come.

Meanwhile, Somerhalder’s relationship with wife Nikki Reed is said to be on the rocks. Fans have been talking about a possible divorce for the couple, especially since Nina Dobrev seems to be re-entering Ian’s life. However, the actor shot down those rumors with a recent Instagram post featuring he and Nikki locking lips. In the caption, Somerhalder calls Reed his better half. Ian also says he’s “literally the luckiest man on earth.”

Only time will tell what The Vampire Diaries Season 8 will hold. Will Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev be reunited on the small screen one last time as Damon and Elena?
