‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Spoilers: What To Expect In Season 13

Grey’s Anatomy is set to return to ABC later this month, and fans are so excited to see what Season 13 of the medical drama will bring. While spoilers have been spilling out for months now, there are a few things that viewers can fully expect to see when Meredith and the rest of the Grey Sloan doctors return.

According to Entertainment Weekly, one of Grey’s Anatomy‘s fan favorite couples, April and Jackson, will have another big season. In the Season 12 finale, fans watched as April gave birth, in a very dramatic way, to the couple’s first child.

In Season 13, viewers will watch as April and Jackson learn to navigate how to parent their new little bundle of joy while being divorced. While fans have been itching for the couple to get back together, it should be fun to see them spending so much time together while learning the ropes of parenthood. Perhaps, it will be that task that drives them back into each other’s arms for good.

“They’re going to really try to do this in a healthy way, and is that healthy way going to feel so healthy when they still have feelings for each other?” the show’s creator Shonda Rhimes revealed.

Meanwhile, The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Grey’s Anatomy Season 13 will open with a bang. The premiere is set to pick up right where the Season 12 finale left off with Owen and Amelia’s wedding. Spoilers reveal that something big and dramatic will happen right off the bat, and it could involve Meredith, Maggie, and Riggs, who are in a love triangle, even though they don’t really know it yet.

It has been revealed that Season 13 will highly focus on the original characters. Those remaining include Meredith, Alex, Bailey, and Richard. However, characters like Arizona, Jackson, and April have been on the show for so long they seem like original characters at this point.

Grey’s Anatomy fans will also see Alex revert to his old ways and find himself in some serious trouble. In the Season 12 finale, viewers learned that Jo refused to marry Alex because she was already secretly married to an abusive man whom she’s been on the run from for years. After getting drunk, Dr. DeLuca tried to help Jo home and take care of her, but when Alex returned he found them in a compromising position, misunderstanding the situation.

Alex then took it upon himself to start brutally beating DeLuca. This will come back to bite Alex, who will be suffering legal consequences for the beating. It looks like Alex is in for a rough season as he’ll also likely find out about Jo’s past as well. However, if the couple can’t work through their issues, many Grey’s Anatomy fans are pulling for a romance between Alex and Meredith in the future.

Since the announcement that the show will focus on the original characters in Season 13, rumors have been flying that actress Sandra Oh will return to the series as Cristina Yang. Sadly, these rumors have been debunked. However, fans are still holding out hope that Cristina will return in the future to reunite with Meredith, and possibly Owen.

One character who has been overlooked in the love department lately is Arizona. After divorcing Callie and undergoing an ugly custody battle for their daughter Sophia, Dr. Robbins will finally find some happiness. Arizona will get a new love interest in Season 13. However, Arizona won’t be seen in the first couple of episodes due to the fact that actress Jessica Capshaw recently had a baby and was taking some time off during filming.

“Jessica was very, very delightfully pregnant at the end of last year, and so she’s not in the first two episodes — which everybody brace yourselves for — because she’s taking a little bit of time off for kids, but then she’s back,” Rhimes stated.
