CMA Awards 2016 Nominees Announced: Check Out The Complete List
Exciting news for country music fans -the nominees for the 2016 Country Music Association (CMA) Awards have been announced!
Country music superstars Keith Urban, Dierks Bentley and Cam revealed the nominees for the 12 CMA Awards categories on Wednesday, August 31 at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. Their announcement was aired on Wednesday’s episode of Good Morning America.
“I am very excited about this year’s list of nominees,” Sarah Trahern, CMA Chief Executive Officer, said in a news release. “We have artists who received their first CMA Awards nominations decades ago alongside first-timers; we have critically-acclaimed songwriters and artists who have reset the bar for Country Music. This is going to be an exciting year in addition to celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the CMA Awards.”
Eric Church, Maren Morris and Chris Stapleton are topping the list of nominees with five nominations each. Church received nods for Single of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, and Music Video of the Year. Morris and Stapleton are also up for Single of the Year. Morris was also nominated for Album of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year, and Song of the Year, and New Artist of the Year. Stapleton received the coveted nomination for Entertainer of the Year, along with Male Vocalist of the Year, Musical Event of the Year and Music Video of the Year.

Jason Aldean, the reigning Entertainer of the Year and recipient of the Triple Crown Award, spoke about being snubbed following the announcement, Taste of Country reports.
“I’ve learned not to assume anything at this point,” Aldean said. “It’s one of those things that, obviously when you see that stuff, it’s disappointing, but at the same time, the day before that we’re celebrating the Triple Crown, and we won the Entertainer of the Year. So I don’t understand the way the voting goes any more than anybody else does.”

“Things are gonna happen if they’re gonna happen,” he added. “There’s nothing I can go do that’s gonna magically get us nominated next year, or the year after that. At this point I feel like I’ve gone out and done everything I can do to put ourselves in a position to be there, and people either vote for you or they don’t. I don’t know why it’s so different from ACMs to CMAs, it just seems to be that way. It’s not just this year; it seems to be that way a lot over the years.”
