WWE News: Roman Reigns Asked To Remove Illegal Vest
While almost everyone knows that professional wrestling is scripted, there are still WWE fans out there who take things very seriously. When it comes to certain wrestlers, such as John Cena and Roman Reigns, fans can get very rabid as well. That makes a recent Change.org petition concerning Roman Reigns very funny.
Launched on Tuesday, the petition hit online with fans asking Vince McMahon to force Roman Reigns to remove his illegal vest while competing in WWE matches. While this Roman Reigns petition, which asked for 2,500 signatures and has almost 1,800 at the publication of this article, seems very strange, it is obviously a joke.
When reading down through the Roman Reigns petition, the person who launched it said that the petition will be delivered to a number of people, including WWE chairman Vince McMahon, WWE Monday Night Raw general manager Mick Foley, and Jack Tunney.
For fans who haven’t followed wrestling for the last three decades, Jack Tunney is the former figurehead president of the WWF before the authority figures became popular. Whenever a decision needed to be made, such as when Andre the Giant sold his WWF world title to The Million Dollar Man, it was Jack Tunney who made the decision.

Jack Tunney died in 2004 at the age of 69. Tunney first got involved in professional wrestling in 1952, worked as president of the NWA, and then joined Vince J. McMahon, Sr. as part of the WWWF. When Vince McMahon took over for his dad, Tunney remained involved as a figurehead until 1995.
Back to the Roman Reigns petition, it is clearly a joke petition that has become popular since it hit the internet yesterday. As a reminder, Roman Reigns made his WWE debut with Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose as The Shield and all three men wore riot gear in their initial appearances. Roman Reigns kept the look.

The Wrap mentions that the Roman Reigns vest is body armor that is in the form of a reinforced vest. This actually makes it seem like it gives him more protection in the ring from injuries.
“Roman Reigns has been systematically breaking the rules of Admiral-Lord Mountevans Unified Rules of Professional Wrestling through the use of illegal body armor to protect himself during the course of matches with legitimately dressed competitors, and has been doing so throughout his career. We require swift action that prohibits the use of this body armor in all future WWE contests by Mr. Reigns and anyone else.”

Roman Reigns’ place in the WWE is still unknown right now. The Inquisitr previously reported that there was a chance that Reigns was returning to the main event scene after SummerSlam. That almost seemed to happen when Roman got a chance at the WWE Universal title in the recent four-way match on WWE Monday Night Raw.
Roman Reigns was involved in a U.S. Championship feud with Rusev but the two never wrestled at SummerSlam as Roman just destroyed Rusev before the match started. Instead of continuing the feud the next night on WWE Monday Night Raw, Roman competed for a shot at the upcoming WWE Universal Championship match.
Interestingly, it was not Roman Reigns nor his former Shield partner Seth Rollins who won the match. Instead, Kevin Owens is the new champion thanks to Triple H’s interference, and Roman Reigns’ illegal vest couldn’t save him from that.
