Calvin Harris Disses Taylor Swift’s Instagram And Songwriting Skills
To some, it looks like Calvin Harris is still trying to get his digs in at former girlfriend Taylor Swift. The Scottish DJ and producer may have learned a thing or two from the singer’s Instagram skills.
Taylor Swift, 26, has been keeping pretty quiet since Kim Kardashian exposed her on Snapchat and the world mocked her new relationship with Tom Hiddleston. She has been seen going to the gym and even attending jury duty. Swift has only taken to Instagram to experiment with the new Stories feature and wish her friends a happy birthday.
Now, it looks like Harris is taking a page from Swift’s book when it comes to wishing his friends a happy birthday on Instagram. Although it’s clear that Harris and Swift don’t communicate anymore, it seems like he’s learning a lot from her social media skills. The hitmaker took to Instagram to post a tribute to his manager, Mark Gillespie, on his birthday, and some think it’s a swipe at his famous ex-girlfriend.
The above-mentioned photo features Harris, 32, in his Emporio Armani underwear. In case you forgot, Harris used to be the face of the Italian brand before it was rumored that Hiddleston, 35, would become the new face. Fans think Harris was shading Swift’s happy birthday post for Karlie Kloss from last year in which Harris was front and center in the photo.
However, it’s hard to focus since Harris is front and center and half-naked in the photo.
He even originally wrote in the caption, “Happy birthday, mate. There’s a higher potential people will look at you in this photo, because in this shot, I’m not wearing my pants,” before editing it and writing a less snark-worthy message.
Swift still hasn’t learned from her mistakes, notes Vanity Fair. This year, she gave a shout-out to Karlie Kloss by being front and center.
Check out the rest of her other birthday posts, in which all eyes are on her.
This isn’t the first time that Harris has dissed Swift in recent days. At the 2016 MTV VMAs on Sunday night, the artist didn’t bother to thank her when he won his award for Best Male Video for his summer hit “This Is What You Came For.” In a recorded message, Harris thanked Rihanna from the “bottom of his heart” and referring to her as a superstar, reports MTV News.
He also went on to thank “legendary” director Emil Nava, the fans, as well as “everybody who’s supported this song” and “who’s watched this video,” notes People. Harris also won the Best Electronic Video for “How Deep Is Your Love.”
Last month, it was revealed via People that Swift actually wrote the lyrics under the pseudonym Nils Sjoberg. After their secret collaboration was revealed, Harris took to Twitter to diss singer, writing, “I wrote the music, produced the song, arranged it and cut the vocals.”
He also added that it found it hurtful that his famous ex-girlfriend “would go so far out of their way to try and make ME look bad at this stage.”
“I figure if you’re happy in your new relationship you should focus on that instead of trying to tear your ex bf down for something to do,” Harris continued to write on Twitter. “I know you’re off tour and you need someone new to try and bury like Katy ETC but I’m not that guy, sorry. I won’t allow it.”
Swift never outwardly responded to the claims that she wrote the music. However, shortly after Harris revealed the truth on social media, she quickly updated the songwriting credits so that she’s officially listed as the co-writer of the song, reports Billboard.
