Kanye West Admits He Tried To Impress Kim Kardashian With His ‘Cool Outfit’ Before Marriage
Kanye West was pining for Kim Kardashian for a while before the two started dating, according to the 38-year old rapper.
In an interview with E! News, West shared that he would hope that he was “cool enough” to be Kim K’s boyfriend before they became an official couple.
“Her [spirit] was there even before she was my girlfriend,” he said. “I would do these performances and hope that she would see me in my cool outfit and think that I would be cool enough to be her boyfriend,” he said.
The interview happened after the first night of Kanye West’s “Saint Pablo Tour.” The 39-date tour kicked off in Indianapolis. For the show, which includes West rapping on top of a floating stage, he explained that he wants his fans to get their money’s worth. “I want people to come to the Pablo shows and know that it’s just going to be the best time they’ve had in their life,” he said. “To be able to see my daughter and my son and my wife, it’s amazing. I feel extremely blessed and I’d like to do everything I can to give as dope a performance, give all of that energy to the crowd, have people have as good as time as possible and feel inspired.”
As for his family, it seems that Kanye West received his wish and got the girl of his dreams. Kanye West and Kim Kardashian were married in 2014. Together they have a 3-year-old daughter, North, and an 8-month old son, Saint. And he still continues to make “cool” things, but not just for his wife, but for his kids as well.
“Everything that I do now is to [make things], I don’t want to say better because who’s to say if it’s better, but fresher or doper. Make a cooler world for my kids and everybody’s kids’ sake,” he said in the same interview.
And West seems to have been keeping that dream alive as he’s pursued various avenues in art on top of music including fashion, film, and video games. With his fifth studio album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, he was applauded for the 35-minute video for the LP and drew controversy for the “Famous” video off of his latest album, The Life of Pablo. He’s also lauded for the visuals in “Bound 2,” “No Church in the Wild,” “Can’t Tell Me Nothing,” “Gold Digger,” and “Power.”West also made his way into the fashion industry — with the help of Adidas — and recently launched Yeezy Season 3. He’s also slated to release a video game dedicated to his late mother, Donda West, titled “Only One.”
According to West, the game will follow his mother on her way to heaven.
West will also be granted four minutes to do whatever he wants at tonight’s MTV’s Video Music Awards. Considering that last year he spoke about the infamous incident with Taylor Swift from 2009, other albums that have deserved to win awards and announced his candidacy for 2020 during his acceptance speech for Video Vanguard award, it’s hard to imagine what West will do this year to top it. So far, he reportedly missed the VMA rehearsals so no word on what it will be. Along with gracing the stage, West is also nominated for two awards, Best Male Video and Video of the Year for the aforementioned “Famous.”
Along with Kanye West, other notable A-listers are slated to be in attendance including Beyonce, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, Britney Spears, Ariana Grande, and Nick Jonas.
The MTV Video Music Awards airs live from New York City’s Madison Square Garden on Sunday (Aug. 28) at 9 p.m. EST.
