Jennifer Lopez Breaks Silence On Split From Casper Smart — The Real Story

After news broke that Casper Smart dumped superstar girlfriend Jennifer Lopez, the triple threat entertainer has broken her silence in a cryptic post via Instagram. A picture of the star is simply complemented by the words “Protect Yo Heart.” The graffiti in the picture is by the anonymous artist known simply as UncutArt and the text is surrounded by a heart that also has spikes protruding from it. The post, coming just days after the apparent breakup, seems like the post-split acknowledgement that the two are over, despite claims that Casper is eager to rekindle the romance after their latest fight.

The shot was taken in front of the art in New York City while Lopez filmed for her upcoming ABC cop drama Shades of Blue. The Mirror shares details about the recent split that actually now has the former couple on amicable terms.

“The 47-year-old singer and the 29-year-old dancer – who have been together since 2011, despite a brief separation in 2014 – called time on their romance, and while their relationship is now “amicable”, it’s still not clear if a reunion is on the cards. Casper is keen to rekindle their romance after their most recent fight, but J-Lo is said to be adamant this is the end for the couple.”

Previously a source spoke on the subject of the split and indicated that the two have been apart for a number of weeks, not just days, and shares that although tabloids insist that it was a dramatic break up, there was no drama involved.

“Jennifer and Casper have split. They have not been together for a few weeks. It wasn’t anything dramatic and they were on good terms – it just came to a natural end. They will remain friends and they see each other, but they are not together. It was very amiable.”

There remains some mixed messages, however, as sources close to Casper maintain that the two have not broken up, while those close to Jen say it is definitely over, as TMZ shares. The confusion brings a reminder of the split back in 2014 between the pair when sources actually claimed that JLo and Casper weren’t actually broken up and instead were spending time at Lopez’s home. A week ago, Lopez and Smart were spotted together at the singer’s Las Vegas show, which is fueling rumors including similar speculation.

Jennifer shares 8-year-old twins Max and Emme with ex-husband Marc Anthony. Lopez first got together with Casper when he was a back-up dancer for Jen’s 2011 tour. The singer is clearly protecting her heart with more vigor since her split from Marc Anthony. In 2014 Lopez referred to the demise of the relationship as the “biggest disappointment” of her life. Jen has since shared about the tough circumstance involving divorce from the father of her children. The publication relays the words of the star spoken during an earlier interview.

“It was devastating and awful. I think both Marc and I thought at the time we would be together for the next 40 years until we die. It was the biggest disappointment of my life so far. [But] I felt like at that time I had lost my way a little bit, of who I was in trying to make the marriage work. I had been married twice before and I didn’t want this to be a failure… I just put all my heart and soul into that and forgot who I was as an individual a little bit.”

Lopez is likely being much more tentative about who she gives her heart to and is likely hesitant to move forward with yet another marriage for fear of another failure.
