‘The Vampire Diaries’ Steroline End Game: Candice King Talks Steroline June Wedding [Video]

The Vampire Diaries Steroline end game is the big question right now for fans. Will the couple get their June wedding, foreshadowed by Caroline way back in Season 1? Candice King told Clevver News as much as she knows.

Right now, it’s looking possible. The Vampire Diaries fans will remember way back in the pilot episode that Caroline had a thing for Stefan. After he returned to Mystic Falls, she spent the time between third and fourth period finding out as much as possible about him. When telling Bonnie, she made a comment about them both planning a June wedding. For those that don’t quite remember it, the video is below.

At the time, the comment was just a throwaway line that most fans probably didn’t see coming true. After all, Elena was the main female and she was Stefan’s love interest. It was only when Elena became a vampire and finally made the decision to be with Damon that things completely changed. The Vampire Diaries had to change direction for Stefan’s love life. He couldn’t pine over Elena for the rest of his life, could he?

There were also hints that a relationship between Stefan and Caroline could work. The Steroline shippers started around The Vampire Diaries Season 2, when Caroline was turned into a vampire and needed help dealing with all the overwhelming emotions. Stefan was there and a close friendship blossomed. By Season 5 it was clear that more than a friendship was possible, and Season 6 saw that become a reality.

With some bumps along the way, King has said that Stefan and Caroline will be together at the start of the new season. They will be united, after Caroline finally decided to forgive Stefan for keeping her safe and followed her heart. However, what does that mean for the ending?

The Vampire Diaries Season 8 is the end. Will Steroline be the end game? Is it possible that June wedding will become a real thing? King certainly believes so, but she does admit that Caroline has a lot on her plate right now.

While discussing the question with Clevver News at the San Diego Comic-Con 2016, she explained that Caroline has to balance her family life with the twins and Alaric, her love life with Stefan, and then all the mystical problems in her real life. She has to find a way to compartmentalize everything, and that isn’t necessarily going to be easy. One thing The Vampire Diaries has stuck with from day one for Caroline is her obsessive nature to control everything.

King didn’t have much chance to explain everything she knew about The Vampire Diaries Steroline end game. She just knows that the start of Season 8 will see the two together. Whether it stays that way is completely up to the writers.

After all, there is the possibility that Elena will come back. How will that happen and could it put doubt between Stefan and Caroline? These were questions that King couldn’t answer. This wasn’t because she didn’t want to or because it would mean spoilers for the fans, but because she doesn’t have the actual answers. They are questions only Julie Plec and the writers can answer right now.

Fans are eagerly awaiting the final season of The Vampire Diaries to find out what is in store for all the characters. Will they get their happy endings? Will Caroline stay with Stefan? There are some fans who would like for her to leave Mystic Falls for New Orleans to help save Klaus and be with him. Could that really be the end game for Steroline in The Vampire Diaries Season 8?
