Taylor Swift ‘Banned’ From VMAs Because Of Beyonce, Giving Kim Kardashian And Kanye West Spotlight?
Taylor Swift has become a famous presence at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), with yearly excitement over whether her ongoing feud with Kanye West and Kim Kardashian would flare up or die down. But a new report claims that Swift was “banned” from the 2016 MTV VMAs, because of Beyonce’s decree, according to Gossip Cop‘s investigation of the report from MediaTakeOut.
“QUEEN BEY!! Beyonce Gets Taylor Swift BANNED From The VMAs… Showing She’s The Most POWERFUL WOMAN IN MUSIC!!!” claimed the story.
The media outlet went continued to claim that Beyonce was responsible for getting Taylor “banned.” But will the “Blank Space” singer attend or leave a blank space in the cheating chart?
Us Weekly reports that the pop princess will not be present at the VMAs this year. But for those seeking Swift-related drama at the ceremony, she will be honored (sort of) because her contributions to her former boyfriend Calvin Harris’ “This Is What You Came For” received a nod for Best Collaboration.
Harris notoriously had problems shaking off the revelation that his hit song, which got an assist from Rihanna, featured his former girlfriend secretly singing on the track, using the no-one-saw-it-coming pseudonym of Nils Sjoberg.Even without a direct confrontation with the “I Knew You Were Trouble” singer, Kardashian and her husband, as well as Rihanna, promise to turn the 2016 MTV VMAs into a must-see show. Add in Britney Spears and some other surprises, and executive producer Jesse Ignjatovic promises an amazing experience, reported EW.
Rihanna is set to take home the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. She has a medley planned that the producer hinted will provide one of the highlights of the event.
“I’m really excited because she’s taken this opportunity to inject her own creativity into it,” revealed Ignjatovic.“I can tell you it’s going to be one of those holy crap VMA moments.”
In addition, the VMAs producer anticipates that spontaneity will rule, and that means unpredictable moments that will make for day-after discussions about who stole the spotlight.
“If an artist at the last minute has something they want to bring to it—when Gaga dressed as a male artist or when Beyoncé had the baby bump—we want to support them to do that,” emphasized Ingjatovic. “Artists are going to want to do something to have a moment. This show more than any other is the show where that seems to happen. We don’t get so locked into it that it has to be this way or that way.”
And that opens the door for Kanye and Kim to reign freely on stage. In the spirit of spontaneity at the ceremony, West has received four minutes to use as he desires, reported the Mirror, which cited sources saying that producers of the show are looking forward to “something big” from the rapper.
Whether Kanye shows off his rapping skills, sings a ballad, dances, or just stands there silently is unknown, because so far, Kardashian’s husband has not offered any hints about what TV viewers and the audience at New York’s Madison Square Garden can expect. At previous ceremonies, he’s famously confronted Swift and, last year, held onto the spotlight by offering up a speech that lasted 11 minutes as he accepted the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.
And his wife, Kim, is also going to have her moment in the spotlight on stage, noted Cosmopolitan.
Although Beyonce is nominated for 11 awards for Lemonade and may provide the audience with a surprise, Kardashian will be taking the stage to present an award herself. Kim previously did so in 2014. Can she and her husband win the spotlight from Beyonce and Rihanna?
In addition to Kardashian, Sean “Diddy” Combs, Alicia Keys, Ansel Elgort, Bebe Rexha, Fifth Harmony, Jaden Smith, Shameik Moore, and Tove Lo will take the stage as presenters, according to ET.
One moment to watch for: Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj are predicted to stun in performing their collaboration, “Side by Side,” with an insider telling ET that the duet will feature Ariana “as we’ve never seen her.”
Even though Taylor won’t be at the award ceremony, the feud between Kim and the former country singer-turned-pop music princess continues, leaving the door open for either Kardashian or her rapper husband to refer to their battle and possible even fire it up or apologize, pointed out Hollywood Life.
West may use his time to “make amends,” according to a report cited by Hollywood Life. Will Kim follow his lead? The VMAs is where their feud first began, making it the perfect place to have either a showdown or an apology.
Ever since Kardashian leaked that footage about the lyrics that Swift had challenged, however, the battle has continued. Will Kim or her husband extend an olive branch at the anything-can-happen award ceremony? Stay tuned.
