BLACKPINK Will Be In Your Area Later With Their Own Variety Show Titled ‘BLACKPINK TV’
So far, 2016 has seen some really interesting rookie groups in K-pop make their debut. Fantagio debuted their newest K-pop boy group, Astro, and their second single, “Breathless,” placed on the U.S. Billboard Music Charts.
SM Entertainment also debuted a new K-pop boy group known as NCT. What is unique about NCT is that it does not perform as one group, but through numerous sub-groups. Earlier this year, NCT U debuted with “The 7th Sense,” followed by NCT 127 with “Fire Truck.”
However, there is one new K-pop group this year who received the most attention, and that is the girl group created by YG Entertainment, Black Pink. Prior to their debut, YG Entertainment released numerous teasers ranging from photos, member biographies, and even a dance practice video. Eventually, Black Pink would make their debut on August 8 with two songs complete with music videos, “Whistle” and “Boombayah.” Reportedly, Black Pink dominated their debut week with more than 26 million views on both music videos collectively on YouTube, earning an all-kill and perfect all-kill on the Korean music charts, and they had their song played at the 2016 Olympics.
Apparently, Black Pink fans cannot get enough of Black Pink. Fortunately for them, they will get more Black Pink in their area. Later on, Black Pink will be featured in their own variety show titled BLACKPINK TV.BLACKPINK TV seems to be the next step in providing content to keep Black Pink fans sated after Black Pink, as mentioned earlier, dominated the K-Pop world during their debut. Their domination continued when they earned first place on Inkigayo just 14 days after their debut, as reported by Soompi. Both their successful week and their recent win on the popular music variety show fortified Black Pink as “monster rookies,” a status that was also earned by YG Entertainment’s K-pop girl group, 2NE1, but most recently by JYP Entertainment’s new K-pop girl group, Twice.
YG Entertainment provided a general statement to Black Pink fans. They thanked them for their interest and love, and YG promised to show more content to satisfy the group’s fans.
“Thank you for all the unexpected interest and love. We are sincerely grateful. We will show more of our artists’ charms through various contents in the future.”
Now we know that the first thing YG Entertainment will do to show more of their “artists’ charms” is to feature them in a show titled BLACKPINK TV. Through the K-variety show, Black Pink fans will experience the everyday happenings of Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa. It will heavily feature another side of Black Pink, by giving fans a glimpse of their down-to-earth charms which parallel the fierceness and charisma they show while performing, as reported by AllKpop.
“Though we are overwhelmed by the response, we believe it’s a form of interest. We are truly thankful and thankful again. By kicking off BLACKPINK TV, we will bring our artists to you through a diverse array of content.”
It is also known that the first airing for BLACKPINK TV was on last week’s episode of Inkigayo which featured a behind-the-scenes look at Black Pink, their adorable antics, as well as working hard to become the best K-pop girl group in the K-pop industry today.
To be fair, Black Pink is doing something most new K-pop groups have done to give their fans a glimpse of their likes and dislike in their private lives. Right after Twice made their debut, Once (devoted fan club of Twice) were treated to a behind-the-scenes look at Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu through Twice TV. Apparently, Once, as well as K-pop fans in general, wanted to see more, so it was followed up with Twice TV2 and Twice TV3 earlier this year.
For Black Pink fans wondering how they can watch BLACKPINK TV, the Naver app is free to download on smartphones running on Android (primarily Samsung) or iOS (primarily iPhones). Once downloaded, Black Pink fans will be able to access BLACKPINK TV.
