Three Founding Members Of The Beach Boys Are Sacked Half-Way Through Their Reunion Tour

Their past might be littered with quarrels and disputes, but even this seems pretty cold for The Beach Boys. Brian Wilson, Al Jardine, and David Marks have each been sacked from the band and were only informed of the decision by a statement issued by Mike Love, the band’s frontman. Oh, yeah, he’s Wilson’s cousin too.

If that wasn’t enough, they are only half way through their English tour, and it will be continuing without them too. Session musicians and Bruce Johnston, who joined the band in 1965 originally, have been hired to replace them.

The statement released read: “The post-50th anniversary configuration will not include Brian Wilson, Al Jardine and David Marks. The 50th Reunion Tour was designed to be a set tour with a beginning and an end to mark a special 50-year milestone for the band.”

This sacking comes only months after the reunited members got together to record new and original music in a recording studio for the first time in 20 years. Speaking to CNN, Brian Wilson stated that, “I’m disappointed and can’t understand why Love doesn’t want to tour with Al, David and me. We are out here having so much fun. After all, we are the real Beach Boys.”

As you would have guessed, this news has caused quite a reaction from fans who have already bought their tickets for the reunion gigs. A fan letter of protest is doing the rounds through social network sites, but, as Love owns the rights to the band name, don’t expect any change to happen soon.
