‘Narcos’ Season 2: Death Of Pablo Escobar – Season 3 Canceled?
Netflix’s Narcos Season 2 is going to premiere next month. During the special screening of the first episode, show’s executive producer revealed the details and how it is going to be better than the first one.
The first season spanned over two decades and showed the rise of Pablo Escobar, how he got arrested, and how he escaped from the prison.
Set and filmed in Colombia, Netflix’s Narcos Season 1 tells the story of notorious drug kingpin Escobar, who become a billionaire through the mass production and distribution of cocaine in the United States.

Along with the rise of Escobar as a drug lord, it also followed the story of DEA agents who wanted the kingpin dead or alive.
In reality, Escobar was killed after 18 months from his escape, so it means that Narcos Season 2 will focus on the remaining days of his life.
Show’s executive producer, Eric Newman announced during the screen of the first episode at Arclight Hollywood that the viewers should enjoy Escobar’s story while he lasts, as they are going to show his end in the awaited season.
During his conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, he admitted why the main character’s death is seen as extremely controversial by many fans and critics.
“I remember the Titanic argument: Who’s going to see a movie where everyone knows the ending?” he said. “The decision to be able to actually invest time spent with Pablo Escobar knowing that the end is near will allow people to experience it in a different way.”
He also added that fans are going to miss the character and it is going to become hard for them to say goodbye to those characters.
“We love Pablo. We don’t love the man, but we love the character we’ve built, who Wagner has played so well. We want people to join in mourning him right away, because it’s hard to say goodbye to them.”
From the looks of the released trailer of upcoming episodes, it looks like the main character is now a wanted man by both the Cali Cartel and law enforcements. The second season of Narcos will find him on the run from the Colombian law enforcements after his escape from the prison.

Who was Pablo Escobar?
Born on December 1, 1949, Pablo Emilio Escobar Gaviria was a Colombian drug lord. At the height of his career, his cartel supplied an estimated 80 percent of the cocaine smuggled into the US. By the early 1990s, his estimated known net worth was $30 billion, which makes him the wealthiest criminal in history.
After being elected as an alternate member of the Chamber of Representatives of Colombia, he constructed many hospitals, schools, and churches in western Colombia. However, due to the nature of his business, he was seen as an enemy of the American and Colombian governments.
He was shot and killed by Colombian National Police in his hometown on December 2, 1993.
So, does it mean that after showing his death in Season 2, Netflix won’t renew the series for Season 3?

Well, that’s not the case.
Narcos follows the life and death of famous drug lords. The production chose the story of Pablo, just because his life and death were highly publicized, and the nature of his business made a good plot. Now, after showing his showing his death death, the production will start working on the life of some other famous drug lord.
“I think there’s a reason why we call this show Narcos and not Pablo Escobar. It’s very much about the trade. There are other drug dealers and there are alliances formed against Pablo, so there are a multitude of stories we could tackle,” Newman added.
Narcos Season 2 will air in its entirety on Friday, Sept. 2 on Netflix.
