Nina Dobrev Celebrates ‘Vampire Diaries’ Return With Friends Amid Ian Somerhalder Jealousy Reports

Nina Dobrev seems to be celebrating her forthcoming return to The Vampire Diaries, having posted several photos of herself in Idaho with actress and best pal Julianne Hough.

While it’s unclear whether or not she was actually celebrating her anticipated comeback, it seems rather convenient for Nina to gather all of her friends together for a short girls’ trip on a boat that consisted of loud music and many drinks.

Celeb Dirty Laundry alleges that, while Nina is having the time of her life with her girlfriends, Ian Somerhalder is most likely fuming now that it has been made official: Dobrev will be reprising her role as Elena Gilbert in a forthcoming episode of the hit show.

Nina Dobrev’s official IMDb page proves that the actress will be returning to the vampire franchise, but her credits are only shown for one episode. Whether this means she’s only coming back for one episode has yet to be confirmed — either way, fans have struggled to contain their excitement about the news, very excited just to hear that Dobrev is coming back to Mystic Falls.

As previously mentioned, Somerhalder isn’t so happy about Nina’s return to the show, sources have alleged, particularly Celeb Dirty Laundry. The outlet claims that Ian isn’t fond of working with his ex-girlfriend again and is puzzled as to why producers would invite her back when she made the decision to bail on the cast and move on last year.

On top of that, reports had claimed that Nina allegedly felt uncomfortable working with Ian Somerhalder since his wife Nikki Reed would often show up on set while the twosome were gearing up to film their romantic scenes together. Nina supposedly felt awkward with the idea of having Nikki watch her every move — especially with scenes concerning Somerhalder.

And just two weeks ago, it was claimed that Nikki and Ian had been hitting several rough patches in their marriage, Parent Herald reports, giving the impression that Nina Dobrev’s return to the show would only worsen their relationship, with Reed’s jealousy bound to fly through the roof.

While Ian has made it perfectly clear that he doesn’t want Nina back on the show, Nikki is convinced that once Dobrev films her episode, it could potentially break her marriage with Ian entirely. They have been good all this time, and now that producers have gone out of their way to get Nina back, not only is Ian feeling tense about the decision, but his marriage is being affected by it as well.

Celeb Dirty Laundry reveals,

“Ian has made no secret of the fact that he has no desire to work with Nina again. Ian has been at war with Plec since Comic Con 2016 in San Diego. Ian became flustered and downright angry when questioned about familiar faces returning for the TVD series finale.”

Executive producer Julie Plec has reportedly stopped paying attention to Ian Somerhalder and his wishes in not wanting to work with Nina. Fans are under the impression that there’s a lot of tension between the actor and producers — he seems very passionate about not wanting to see Dobrev again, but CDL adds that the crew has stopped caring about Ian’s needs and demands.

Everybody wants to conclude the final series the right way, and since Nina Dobrev played a massive part in making the show a phenomenon, there’s no reason why she shouldn’t be there to reprise her role as Elena Gilbert one last time, an insider concluded.
